Looking for 300 Savage ammo or brass. Nailed down a 70’s era 99. Looking for Stateside folks willing to depart with some brass. Will pay a fair price; not trying to go broke for a plains game load.

I've seen it on the shelf at bass pro and cabelas in multiple states. Scheels as well. $50 a box for core lokt has stopped me from shooting mine much anymore. That and the unpredictability of sustained accuracy with the corelokt off the bench

This is effectively my issue. I have a bit of a hard time paying that much for the big green product. I’ve heard less than stellar reviews of how the ammo performs.

And I did inherit some dies along with the rifle and was hoping to maybe find some once fired brass then reload my own.

Dumb question here. Can it be formed from 22-250 brass? I know 250 savage can be. You might find a couple of Lee $15 resizing dies and a bucket of old scrap 22-250 brass could be stepped up in 2-3 passes to become 300 savage for reasonable money.

i had three remington .300 savages, two rem 722,s and a new 700 rem classic. i sold the two 722,s to friends who wanted them and kept the new rem 700 classic. the rem 722,s shot three shot groups right on a inch from the bench, my load with 150 nosler bt at 2600+ fps with a heathy dose of varget.

Midway USA in stock Remington. 300 Savage at 39.99 per 20. And free shipping. In this current environment. A deal for such a particular caliber.

I wouldn't attempt it without a power trimmer due to the amount of trimming required but .308 Winchester cases can be used to form .300 Savage. I know that wasn't what the OP was asking but 308 brass is about as common as it gets.

How about we take the remington for $40, pull the bullets and powder, throw them away, back over a truck on the brass a few times, and sell it 20 pieces for $100?

In this climate, any ammo, at any price, is a miracle. If you need something other than 223, 556, 308, or 30-06 you shall not find any for the next 5+ years. The manufacturers have 3-4 years of back orders on the common calibers. They can set up the factory line (while raw materials last) and run an infinite supply of the common calibers that are pre-sold. Thus, they will maximize profit by Making only pre-sold lots by the cargo container full as they are maximum profit margin and there is no warehousing required.

Or they could make a small run of obscure calibers that are 10x more expensive to make and then they’ll be forced to warehouse them hoping for a few orders that serve as a distraction.

If you find ammo that goes bang in your gun for any price, you Best Buy it. If you’re choosy, plan on not shooting for a decade.

Last week a friend of mine went out and spent $3000 on a 28 gauge for one reason only, he could buy 28 gauge shotgun shells last week and he could not buy 12, 16, 20, or 410. He figured he better buy all the shells they had and then go find a gun rather than give up a season of sport.

Appreciate all the leads and even the unnecessary comments. Did have several folks offer to help. This forum is awesome that way. Got a few dozen once fired cases coming my way and will load them up with some Barnes X for my first attempt.

When I looked at Midway the other day they had 150 gr Remington Core Loc's for the 300 Savage in stock

A friend of mine was bitching about 6.5 CM the other day being $50 a box and asking me if he could buy a couple of mine. I thought "yes at $50 a box", but I didn't do that. I told him that I wasn't able to sell any.

I concur on common calibers being impossible. I am building a 6mm Creedmoor just for the availability of ammo. The new 6.5 PRC, 28 Nosler and 300 PRC are impossible to find, as well.

I have about 2000 primers and 15 cans of powder. I don't plan on selling or sharing it with anyone. I'd like to be at 10,000 primers and have 50 pounds of powder. Who knows when this will end. I make the rounds once a week and I haven't seen primer or powder for sale anywhere in 5 months. I have ordered powder online, but I have not yet seen primers.

Any loaded ammo in a caliber that is not 223 or 308 is a gift. I haven't seen any 30-06 in New Mexico in months.

Even my own father asked me for 200 rounds of ammo, I said I'll send you the cleaned sized brass ready to load. He is sitting on 500 primers and powder and is 80 he can load his own ammo.

If you can get ammo you should buy it. You may not be able to get it later on. Also if you havn't bought Christmas presents get on that. There is nothing on the shelves for the kids. Toy aisles are empty.

IF you're going to load.. The 150 SST work terrific at Savage velocities. I saw a 140 gr. TSX load that looked very promising and I'm looking forward to try.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
