when it comes to bespoke gun making we often hear about the english gunmakers such as Holland & Holland, John Rigby & Co, James Purdey & Sons, Westley Richards, or even some German and Austrian gunmakers such as Johann Fanzoj, Ludwig Borovnik, Peter Hoffer and many more... But the name VO Vapen of Sweden rarely get recognize.

VO Vapen was founded in 1977 rooted in the determination to build the world’s most exclusive hand-made rifles for hunting and collection. Master Gunsmith Viggo Olsson, who had had a lifelong passion for beautifully crafted artefacts, started off in a small workshop behind his house in Kristianstad in the south of Sweden. This is a rural region famous for its hunting traditions. Together with his son Ulf, Viggo Olsson carefully selected his staff and slowly but surely their reputation spread throughout the globe. Their focus was on exclusive collections, limited editions and unique tailor-made rifles.

here are some of their incredible creations.

VO Action is the very first rifle mechanism on the market that can handle all calibers from 6.5 and onwards, designed on a regular size action, up to the .375 H & H Magnum rifle cartridge. Now, there is no need to order an extra uncomfortable long size action. With this smooth rifle mechanism the hunter could easily use all kinds of cartridges within branch standard length with the same weapon.

I guess at $820,000 USD you have created a masterpiece for those guys with one slot left in the old gun cabinet. I had no idea there was a new rifle anywhere in the world with that sticker price.

When it comes to taste - particularly guns and engraving - I am of the Beau Brummell tradition - restrained elegance and perfect form following function. This sort of over the top engraving does nothing for me. It is the sort of thing a Middle Eastern Sheik or Russian Oligarch might have shown his friend Jeffrey Epstein.

Now the pair in the middle - one a takedown - are attractive.

Wow! I have never seen anything like that.

Action looks a lot like the Husqvarna 1900 except the detachable magazine.

What are they worth.

For what they are worth it depends on what rifle you build it could be a basic working rifle or a beautifully ornate rifle with engravings and gold inlays, so It really depends.

The first photo on top, it was built for sheik of Abu Dhabi. Name engraved on receiver. No. 1, suggests there will be no 2, as well (at least)

I remember few years ago, falcon edition rifle (in line with falconry tradition in UAE) was built for sheik, also. At hat time, it was quoted falcon to be most expensive rifle in the world.
This is from one magazine at that time:

Let's ask one of the owners how it shoots...
Like a pristine Jeep with 35" tires, winch and a Hi-Lift jack in Washington, DC.
It will never be used for its "original" intended purpose.

I can appreciate the work that went into it.
But IMO, it should get out and be used no matter how ornate.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
