story starts out with the temp plunging to 26, cold for here. Central heat unit went out. Nephew came last night (friday) to look at it and left too late for us to head to camp that night.
With the 3/4 moon really bright and the feeding table saying mid-morning is the time to hunt, we got to camp about 7:30 and got to our new spot about 8 a.m.

We sat for an hour with me doing the occasional rattling and grunting. At 9, I left her and went to another area to scout and got back at 11 a.m. She was asleep. lol.
She was sitting in a sack chair on the end of a ridge with a steep bluff. Many gullies converge into one there, so seemed like a good spot to us. (1st year in the small camp of 3 members).

I sat down on the ground on her right side to rest just a minute before we packed it in for the day. We're talking a little and about to stand up when she sees a deer coming down the gully behind me. it is to the right and it was in our lap so quick I couldn't move, so I saw it had a wide rack and I just laid down.

She is holding the rifle over my body trying to find the deer thru the thick woods. She had to lean way over to get the shot due to a tree being in the line of sight. I was trying to look at the deer and where the end of the barrel was pointing (lol) as it was less that 24 inches from my head right over me. At the same time was trying to hold my fingers in my ears.

After seemingly 30 minutes, likely 1 minute or so, she finally shot. My ears immediately started ringing. I couldn't see the deer when she shot and was not seeing straight after the shot but I picked up the running deer about 40 yds from the shot sight looking as though it wasn't hurt. rats!!

She said she had it on the shoulder, but the way she was leaning when she pulled the trigger she wasn't confident. I went down to where the deer was standing and there was pink blood sprayed everywhere. after 20 yds, it turned to mostly red muscle blood, but I was sure the deer would be dead. Sure enough it made it about 70 yds or less.

Oh, yeah.
6 pt, no brow tines.
17.25 in inside spread.
Weird rack, horns went straight out to the sides.

Great job. Congrats. Always fun to take the kids hunting. Bruce

Congratulations! She did great obviously! Woohoo! Meat for the winter!

Great for y'all. Made for a happy Lady. Congrats...

:) that's my 53 yr old wife.

Maybe the feathered sling makes her look younger?
She made that before we went to hunt with Marius a few years ago.
Congrats, hope she doesn't see your post giving up her age and all, my experience has been that women hit 39 and never seem to get older than that. Lol
Cheers,
Cody

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
