I've seen a few email articles come across of this lately. I'm not at SHOT this year to get some face time with umarex, but I'm just a little torn on their marketing objective. They are showcasing this rifle as a capable buffalo rifle, but saying it's not intended nor recommended for it. I know the old "take anything down with a 22 in the right place" adage, but this is too extreme for me.

After reading posts here where DG hunts go wrong, I just cant imagine what PH's would think with one of these showing up in camp where legal for DG....especially just to test function and do some subliminal marketing...let alone the hunter who sees the image and says, "I can do that to".

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this

A 50 cal 350 gr bullet at 960 fps! I would hope it wouldn't be recommended for buffalo. Most pistol hunting rounds will comfortably exceed this thing. The 50 action express almost doubles it. We are talking not much better than .45 acp class of performance with the SD/BC of a nerf ball. I would not use it on a pig at sixty yards, much less "anything in North America" - and certainly not a buffalo. Why do I suspect there is more to this story.

a 22 LR will kill most animals if you put it in exactly the right place... if you miss the animal will either die slowly from infection or it will injure/kill someone.

as a hunter you are responsible to use the proper weapon for the game you are hunting. as a DG hunter you are responsible for the lives of everyone involved in the hunt. if you wound an animal and it injures/kills your PH, tracker, or just some poor farmer ITS YOUR FAULT!

I know a lady that used one (.457 caliber) to take a cape buff this past summer.. She claims it did the job with no problem at all.. (just caught up with her at DSC last week and talked to her about it for a couple of minutes..)

Not something I am personally interested in.. but.. apparently its been proven as capable at least a couple of times already..

The article below is about her hunt (FWIW she is also a professional guide/hunter and runs an outfitter business in Wyoming.. and an extremely experienced international hunter)..

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
