U.S. Men’s Curling - GOLD

I certainly don't know the intricacies of curling, but in the 8th end, I didn't understand why Sweden didn't freeze their last stone up against the USA's shot rock, thus becoming shot rock and making the Americans go for one, and giving Sweden the hammer. It seems to me that it would have taken the opportunity of a double out of play and keeping the Americans from getting more than one in the 8th end. Can any curlers out there explain that to me?

Hi
I grew up in northeast Montana 14 miles from Canada and we had one of few curling rinks in Montana maybe US.
We had a High School league and played once or twice a week.
Very hard to do what they did and their last two stones they tried to get a stone on the right side of center to stop the multiple score options for US but the last one wasn’t a good shot by the look the Swedish skips look after it.
Looked like the lane was going to the right way the way we were looking at it and there was a stone that blocked one coming in slow and stopping.

Curling ice is somewhat akin to shooting with a rifle barrel that has a constant variable accumulation of copper fouling. Have fun being accurate.
Small rinks with a lot of people inside can increase the humidity and thus the frost accumulation on the ice and the rocks go where they want to. There are enough factors to make you nuts.

You have to be lucky and good to win.

Congrats Duluth

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
