U.S. Men’s Curling - GOLD

I’d of course rather have Sweden win it, but it wasn’t meant to be. Well played by the US in the eight, other than that it was pretty much equal in my view.

It was the flash dud's that paved the way.

Congrats on the win.

Yeah and what about the Russian doping scandal? Who knew that curlers take performance enhancing drugs?

Thought those guys only used performance enhancing beer!:D

I certainly don't know the intricacies of curling, but in the 8th end, I didn't understand why Sweden didn't freeze their last stone up against the USA's shot rock, thus becoming shot rock and making the Americans go for one, and giving Sweden the hammer. It seems to me that it would have taken the opportunity of a double out of play and keeping the Americans from getting more than one in the 8th end. Can any curlers out there explain that to me?

Don’t worry the Canadians played nice and let other countries take medals this year.....

Wheels you understand a heck of a lot more than me!

congratulations on the win. A lot of Canadians were cheering for our team.

My team is currently looking for a country to adopt us for the 2022 games....

If Nigeria can field a woman’s bobsled team,
I’m sure South Africa, Zimbabwe, or Namibia could use a men’s curling team!

I heard they are now offering a 2 hour curling course (instruction followed by a game or two at an ice rink about 1 hour from my house. Would be fun to do with couples provided that beer/drinks were part of the package. + = broken ankle.

'The Simpsons' predicted 8 years ago US would beat Sweden to win Olympic curling gold

“The Simpsons” again proved it could see into the future.

A “Simpsons” episode from 2010 depicted the USA beating Sweden to win the Olympic gold medal in curling. Just like the episode, the U.S Men’s Olympic Curling Team won a gold medal Saturday after defeating Sweden 10-7 in the Pyeongchang Games. The victory is the second curling medal ever for the United States.

The episode, titled “Boy Meets Curl,” which aired on Feb. 14, 2010, followed the lead character, Homer Simpson, and his wife Marge forming a curling team that went on to win gold. Sweden took home silver just like in South Korea.

"Simpsons” writer Rob LaZebnik, who is credited with creating the episode, tweeted his congratulations to the victorious team and playfully mentioned the men were the second team to beat Sweden in curling at the Olympics, Entertainment Weekly reported.

“Congrats to USA Curling 2018 on their gold! Not the first time the US beat Sweden, though. Marge and Homer did it eight years ago,” LaZebnik tweeted.

Al Jean, an executive producer and writer on the long-running comedy, also mentioned the show’s ability to make correct predictions.

“Congratulations to US Men’s gold medal curling team! Good predictions can come true too!” Jean tweeted.

“The Simpsons” are also credited with correctly predicting Donald Trump winning the presidency, the FIFA scandal and Lady Gaga performing at the Super Bowl, Deadlinereported.

Curling is the golf of winter, therefore, drinking is mandatory!

I did this a couple weeks ago. What a great time! Like many, I watch quite a bit of curling every 4 years but really don't know much about the terminology or scoring. The class really cleared that up. I would be interested in continuing to go to lessons.

Looks like a sport designed for damned Yankees.

It is an invasion from the north!

Thats understandable.;)
