Some recent news on the issue of airlines refusing to carry trophies:
Conservation Force, Dallas Safari Club, Houston Safari Club, the CAMPFIRE Association, the Tanzania Hunting Operators Association (TAHOA), and Corey Knowlton filed suit today against Delta Air Lines, Inc. to compel an end to Delta's illegal embargo on transport of hunting trophies of the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) from Africa. The plaintiffs allege the embargo on transport of a specific class of non-dangerous cargo violates Delta's duty as a common carrier not to discriminate against passengers or cargo.
This is itself good news, but I am left to wonder - where is SCI in all of this? There have been lots of threads and posts recently, particularly with reference to Cecil the Lion, about what SCI is actually doing for and on behalf of hunters. I know they asked people to write letters (as did many others) on this issue, but I wonder why they are not a part of this initiative. Were they not asked? Did they decline to participate? As the organization which claims to be "First for Hunters", where are they, and when will they address the fact that so many people are wondering what they are doing for us?
