I got my trophies back a couple weeks ago. The last week of getting them back was quite disappointing. I got charged nearly $4k for my crate to sit at SFO waiting for inspections. Then when I got my crate, 3/4 of my Euro mounts were broken in different ways. I repaired them myself with extra long screws and Elmer's glue and now I'm feeling better. The mounts look nice now at least! I don't think I'll ever bring stuff home from Africa, but having these few items is nice.

They look nice!! Do u mind if I ask how much the shipping was total? Customs clearance and everything. I've got some stuff at my taxidermist in Limpopo I'll be shipping in a few months. Thanks!!

Everything was pretty reasonable except for the storage charges. Which it sounds like seem to be a problem at SFO specifically. The flight shipping from South Africa was only $900 or so. Then it was maybe 7 to $800 for clearance and the last flight from SFO to SLC. It really would have been pretty cheap had it not been for the storage fees.

this storage fee crap has got to be controlled !! Did you have a US broker? Was the wait bc USFW didn't pick up the crates in a reasonable time frame? The average costs per day for storage has been approx $200 based on what I've seen. What did they charge per day?

Great looking trophies!
Especially I like buffalo!

I did have a well-known US broker. I was told the problem was the customs inspection. They sat there for about 3 weeks. My box was pretty small and light, but they have daily minimums on the storage charges. I think for the first 5 days it was $175 per day. After that it was something like $250 per day. I was pretty dang upset and angry for a while, but I've made peace with it now.

Glad you got your trophies home but those fees a CRIMINAL.

I keep wondering how much imma get burned with 15 dip and packs.

trophies look great

how or where were they broken
were they not fixed securely in crate properly???

Didnt u see when box opened?
Always disapponting
But they look great now
Hidden charges freak me out

Very nice trophies. Happy that you are peace now with everything. Now you can start enjoying them.

Is this the same broker that requires you to send check or money order and won’t let you pay by phone with a credit card so your trophies are going to sit in storage while they wait for your check to arrive?
Dip and pack is not the problem, paying for the crate to sit while the red tape gets measured here in the states is the problem!
My stuff should be shipping soon and I have a pig they will want to inspect so I will keep you updated on my experience as they are coming from same place to the same place.
euro’s look good, will start
Lots of storytelling at your home!

A quarter of the kudu skull was broken into about four pieces. The chunk of skull that the Cape buffalo had been secured to the shield with had completely separated from the rest of the skull. The warthog was completely detached from the shield. I'm honestly not even sure that it was ever secured to the shield. Hence why it now just sits on my table which I'm okay with.

The kudu had been mounted to the side of the crate. Somewhere along the way the skull broke off of the shield and fell on top of the warthog which was below it. The Cape buffalo chunk of skull broke off separately.

In case anyone is interested to see the damage before we fixed them. I'm fortunate my wife was there while I opened it up. When I saw them all broken up I wanted to go into hulk smash mode and just start stomping on everything. Especially after paying $4,000 for storage. She talked me into trying to fix everything.

Buffalo completely separated from shield screws:

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)
