I have one of these on my double and love it. But @Oransnipes, this is your first post on AH. However you are not the first new member that posts an item for sale with your very first post. This is a huge red flag anymore on this forum.

Often times the new member is just a scam artist. We even have a thread here to out these scammers. I wish no insult to you. I don't know you, so I can't say you're an internet thief, but I also can't say I could trust to send you $350 and expect to get this item.

I would suggest you introduce yourself, provide more information about you and whatever you can to ensure this is a legitimate offer.

Otherwise, welcome to the forum.

Good day! Thank you for reaching out about a red dot sight for your .500 NE Merkel. The Trijicon RMR is an excellent choice due to its rugged design, capable of handling the heavy recoil of your double rifle. Here’s my recommendation to help you choose the right model:

**Top Pick: Trijicon RMR Type 2 Adjustable LED (3.25 MOA, RM06)**
- **Why**: This model offers a perfect balance of speed and precision for dangerous game hunting at typical ranges (20-100 yards). Its 3.25 MOA dot ensures fast target acquisition while maintaining accuracy, and its 7075-T6 aluminum construction is proven to withstand .500 NE recoil.
- **Key Features**: Automatic brightness adjustment for varied lighting, lightweight (1.2 oz with battery), and a CR2032 battery that lasts years.

**Alternatives**:
- **RMR Type 2 (1 MOA, RM09)**: Ideal for precision shots beyond 100 yards, though the smaller dot may be slower to acquire up close.
- **RMR Type 2 (6.5 MOA, RM07)**: Best for rapid shots at close range (under 50 yards), great for charging game.
- **RMR HD (3.25 MOA)**: Offers a switchable dot/circle-dot reticle and top-loading battery for convenience.

**Mounting Note**: Ensure your Merkel’s rib is compatible with an RMR mount (e.g., a Picatinny or custom rib mount like those for Heym doubles). A low-profile mount will maintain your rifle’s balance. I recommend consulting a gunsmith to confirm fitment.

Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’m happy to assist!

Best regards,

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.
