Hi everyone

I shoot a fare bit with my double (Chapuis .375H&H) both plains and DG and I've become quite used to the triggers. They've always been heavy but that's the way they are and I just got used to it. The front is 6lbs and the rear 61/2lbs. I recently shot a friends 470 and the triggers were a lot lighter. I didn't measure them but my Mk1 Finger reckons they were a couple of pounds lighter. As expected, the rear pull was slightly more than the front.

I did rather like the lighter pull as 6lbs has always felt rather, how one could say, agricultural for what is a quite refined piece of engineering.

For those owners of doubles that have two triggers, what pull weights are they? Whilst not wishing to compromise the safety aspect of the more robust pull, I would like to investigate maybe knocking a pound or so off the pull. If it's not viable or safe to tinker with it, I'm more than happy to live with the current set up.

Thanks

FN

I like my triggers to be about 4 lbs,the back a little heavier, any lighter & you will run into doubling problems,I have several DR's,unless the triggers are just not comfortable to shoot accurately? I just leave as is,lighter triggers are a definite plus for me,if you have a qualified smith that you trust? I would lighten them otherwise it's not worth the headache.

HI all, here is a Short update on our America trip, I currently in Houston and have 2 more meetings here before movings North toward Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa, and from there I will head to Colorado and Idaho,I have been met with great hospitality and friendship, and have met several new and old clients and we are going to book the rest of 2025 season quick and have several dates booked for 2026!
That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
