Lip service: Be informed:
PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRELY FOR YOUR OWN SUMMATION!

Last year I purchased travelers insurance thru Global Rescue thinking I was fully covered for the worst case scenario.

This year I opted for Global Rescue to cover me again for worst case scenario.

A WASTE OF MONEY!!! Sorry to say. I actually thought I was getting a good product for my money and reffered many others travelers to purchase their services.

Now I am embarrassed to say I am sorry to ever have recommended them.

For safety and security for what they themselves provide/offer Global Rescue on their own, I would recommend until I find a better service.

HOWEVER: IMG Travelers Insurance, offered by Global Rescue, I AM AVOIDING WITH A PASSION!!!!

Last year (2017), via phone conversations with various reps I was as used in case of loss: firearm $1500.00, photo equipment $1500.00, personal clothing loss $500.00: I would be covered up to $25000.00. In reality I discovered this year my losses would only be reimbursed up to $750.00 dollars. WTF!!

What I learned today was that of the 8 page insurance document I was suppose to have received. In actuality I received only 4 pages including 2 pages of page 1 of 4 pages.

ONLY $250.00 PER ITEM IS REIMBUSEABLE!!!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAM TO A TRAVELER/Consumer:

1. I paid $408.00 to IMG plus $159.00 to Global Rescue to cover a $7000.00 USD safari to South Africa for travel insurance in worse case scenario I could not make my trip or my trip was interupted and for whatever reason had to return to the US prior to ending my 9 day trip.

REALITY CHECK:

According to the IMG and Global Rescue representatives I talked to moments ago:

$250 PER ITEM IS MAXIMUM REIMBURSEMENT PER LOSS! PER ITEM! Up to a total of $2500.00

MEANING: Loss of my $1500.00 rifle, I would only recieve $250.00.
Loss of my $1500.00 camere, I would only recurve $250.00. What I consider insignificant clothing items ( including luggage) $300.00-500.00, I would only receive $250.00.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out and be Leary of insurance companies reps saying one thing and in reality offering something a whole lot less as my case with IMG and their association with Global Rescue.

I have already alerted IMG and Global Rescue my posting of a negative response on africahunting.com and of my humbling retraction of recommendations to others that I in all honesty thought would benefit from using their services.

I will be using Global Rescue for their Medical services away from home this year to South Africa. BUT AVOID IMG FOR TRAVELERS INSURANCE. SIMIPLY NOT WORTH IT!! IMO.

As Soon As I find a better provider I will post it. OR perhaps someone on this forum knows of a better provider and will posts their experiences for all of us to check out.

Good to know Ridge Runner. I use Global Rescue only for evac and overseas hospitalization insurance. My overall firearms insurance covers the rifle if it gets stolen or smashed. My small valuables are always in my carry on. At this point in my life I have never read anything good about travel insurance. I only carry what my AMEX card will cover by using it to pay for these things.

My home owners insurance covered all of my personal belongings when I got robbed a few years ago while on a hunting trip. So I only buy evac. insurance when traveling

Update:

I checked with my USAA insurance and found I could get a policy to cover: evac, health, life and full value "replacement" / "lost" of equipment.

Thanks for the information.

I booked my most recent airfare with Travel With Guns. They got me a travel policy from Ripcord so it is both travel insurance and a medical evac policy. The policy is one page long not 8 pages and was so simple and covered so much I was shocked! Oh yea and it was cheap. No more than a simple travel policy.

That's not a USAA product. That's a product that the General Agency sells. The Evac will not be as good as Global Rescue or Ripcord.

Why would you ever think Global Rescue would cover replacement value of your guns? There are policies and companies which do that sort of thing. That isn’t the purpose of getting Global Rescue or Ripcord.

I think he's complaining is about the trip interruption insurance that Global Rescue is selling along with THEIR two core products. It's not GR product, GR is just selling someone else's product (IMG) for a commission.

I use Travel Guard, pretty much one page and for reference, a friend of mine had a back injury and had to cancel an RSA hunt. I'll have to check but IIRC, he didn't lose a penny. He even got back his deposit.

Was that in the U.S. or overseas?

Actually it happened twice once in Canada, New Foundland to be exact and the second time in south Texas. Home owners covered me both times.

Now that’s who you should use. Good info for active duty, retired and former military. Thanks for sharing.

USAA never disappoints. I had my home broken into while at work, 4 days before my next deployment. USAA sent my money for stolen items same day as I file, even before police report was complete

I've been very disappointed with their Homeowners & Personal Articles products. First, they forced me to take a higher deductible for Wind, Hurricane & Hail. And to make matters worse, if I change Carriers, and want to come back to USAA, I cannot get back the same deductible, I will have to get even a higher deductible so I am stuck with them. Second, they changed from a Texas Homeowners "B" to an ISO Form 3 policy. This forced to to purchase a separate policy for my firearms, the Texas policy was unlimited theft coverage the ISO is $2500. I cannot add anymore Binoculars on my personal Article policy, even though they already have one listed, which leaves 3 pair underinsured. And of course, when I present a hail claim, my roof has no damage, even through every house on my street and every street around me got paid for a new roof.

I will not even talk about how they treated their retirees. This is not the same company from years ago, its all about bonus for the top.

Update 2:

I requested cancellation of the IMG policy the same day I purchased the policy thru Global Rescue.

Global Rescue rep gave me the phone number and email address to cancel the policy directly with IMG.

IMG rep said the email address GR gave me was incorrect and gave me a second email address to IMG to cancel my policy. Which I sent a second cancellation email the next day.

Global Rescue within 3 business days refunded my payment.

I contacted IMG via phone after receiving server failure notices unable to connect to server.

The IMG rep I talked with gave me an email address. I sent another email request of cancellation along with the server failure reply that was attached to my previous emails.

(March 14th/ 3rd email attempt)

The confirmation email reply ( indicated that I would not get a refund) that refunds are not given after 14 days from purchase.

MY INTERPRETATION in the way the confirmation email was written: I won't receive a refund because my purchase was made over 14 days. The purchase was made on March 7th, its only been 6 days including a weekend.

CALL and file a formal complaint with the insurance commissioner in your state and one with the Federal Trade Commission. Then call the Better Business Bureau.

For an option to GR and travel insurance, check in to Ripcord.

I give business ONE CHANCE to make it right. After that it's the authorities. I'm old, cranky and don't suffer fools or incompetence lightly.

This is very interesting timing as one week before your post RR, I PM'd Global Rescue about their recently advertised travel AND medical insurance for my upcoming hunt in SA. I was more interested in the travel insurance part, which is now clear was a separate entity that Global Rescue was utilizing. Shortly after your post, Global Rescue responded to my PM. I inquired about your experience and requested more info on how Global Rescue intended to address your situation before I could feel comfortable using them. Global Rescue's response was similar to what Wesheltonj described above,

I think he's complaining is about the trip interruption insurance that Global Rescue is selling along with THEIR two core products. It's not GR product, GR is just selling someone else's product (IMG) for a commission.

This morning this was my final response in PM to Global Rescue:
Thanks for your reply but the situation appears far from resolved based on the latest info posted (by RR). I am no longer considering your service based on the recent developments for what's it worth. I understand that IMG travel insurance is separate and apart from your medical/evacuation services, but as business model GR has decided to a line itself with IMG and I will not take a chance on either service based on what I have read.
Thanks

This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
