Does Ammo have to be in original box in the locked case?
Or can it just be in the plastic sleeves?

We reload our own, but have heard you have to have a factory box to bring it in.

The Air Navigation Order Carriage of Dangerous Goods Act stipulates manufacturers packaging OR any other container that keeps every round of ammo separated from every other round of ammo so something like an MTM box is perfectly acceptable but a box without separations that is not from the original manufacturer isn't acceptable.

Different airlines also have differing rules as to whether the ammo should be in the rifle case, in your general checked baggage or in a locked (sometimes/often) metal container and the best way to deal with this is to put the ammo into a locked (preferably) metal container (with nothing else in it) and then ask the check in agent what they want to do with the ammo.

If they want it in the rifle case, put the ammo in that and the (now empty) lockable case in your general baggage. If they want it in a lockable case on it's own, just check it in as a separate item etc.

I used factory ammo, so it was in the original boxes, then in a locked shotgun shell case (was the perfect size fro 4 boxes of ammo). Then that was in my locked checked luggage. I had no problems with it. In Joburg they wanted it removed from the checked bag & checked by itself. Coming back from East London it was in my checked bag the whole way.

+1 Great to deal with. I purchased custom rifle. No issues.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
