To buy or not to buy

Can anyone tell me anything about Huskavarna rifles especially 1640's? Are they generally accurate? I'm considering one in .358 Norma Magnum. Very pretty wood...

Never owned one but have friends that hunt them and have not had any issues with theirs to date.
In regards to your thread title, I'd say anything is worth buying at the right price. Great looking wood indeed!

I would have to say that is aftermarket lumber! Never seen wood on a huskavarna like that. I had one that was very accurate but it was heavy as sin!

I've got a 30-06 in a lightweight model (still 8.25 lbs with a scope). I've killed a lot of deer with it over the years, and it was plenty accurate with plain old Core Lokts

Did you do a google search on your rifle? Their 640 series had FN Mauser Actions. Their 1600 series had what they called an improved Mauser Action. If this is a CRF rifle I'd buy it in a heart beat. Husqvarna built quality firearms for about 300 years. If you don't mind saying what is the asking price?

That is definitely not original lumber. The Husky is a great rifle and the 358 Norma is an awesome caliber.

Did you do a google search on your rifle? Their 640 series had FN Mauser Actions. Their 1600 series had what they called an improved Mauser Action. If this is a CRF rifle I'd buy it in a heart beat. Husqvarna built quality firearms for about 300 years. If you don't mind saying what is the asking price?

I did goggle seach it, and yes it is a CRF action. It's in Canada so Canadian dollars @$2000. ($1500 US?) Thing is I have a 35 Whelen in a Nosler and a CZ550 Safari in .375 HH. But this thing is so darn purdy!

You just answered your own question. When you start making excuses why it will fit in the safe, just buy it.

By the way, you might want to check the safety before you buy it, they were not the worlds best.

It is a gorgeous looking stock. If for whatever reason the calibre seems superfluous to your needs there are two ways to deal with that problem:
1. Rebarrel or
2. Learn to live with it as I am currently doing with my M70 in 416 Rem Mag that just followed me home ;-)

There is more than 1500 USD worth of wood there! If it looks as good as it does in the picture you aren’t going to go wrong at that price.

If your in for it I sure wouldn't hesitate to toss the guy a number your comfortable at. No harm no foul if he/they say no.

I bought one in 6.5x55 and was very surprised by how much I like it. Very basic and seems robust. The safety on mine is solid. That caliber is a great one to consider too.

Rick, What you have started life as a Husqvarna model 1651 as it is chambered in .358 Norma. It may have been either a Standard, Special, or Luxury grade. The stock is beautiful but, it probably has been replaced as has been stated. Never the less, it is a high quality rifle you will be proud to own.
I'm very fond of Husqvarnas and as a matter of fact, was on the range with mine yesterday although in .30'06.
