SOUTH AFRICA: Tiny 10 In East Cape

Great info. Thanks for the time to complete the trip follow up. I will be chasing Vaal, klipe and mountain reed bucks summer of 2026 and your info will be helpful and having me watch more videos.

Thank you for sharing this amazing trip, even with the ups and down, I believe it was after all a successful hunt. The great animals you took were hard earned, which in my humble opinion adds to the memories of the hunt. The EC has showed me that it's not an easy place to hunt, and nothing it's a guarantee there. You have earned some life long memories. The EC is such varied terrain and each has it's own beauty.
I am happy for you to get your grysbok! Both the cape and sharpes took me two trips.

I also owe you an apology from when we spoke before your hunt to not mention stiffer boots for the mountain animals.

The klippies will be easier to find in limpopo, I have never seen one in the EC in 3 trips, know there are some but :Cyclops:

Nice animals and a great write up. My Klippi came from the EC so they are there. Just need the right mountain I guess. Congrats on your hunt.

When I was hunting Chamois in the Carpathians of Romania, Tina said "I never though I'd have to work so hard to hunt such a small animal."

Sometimes the little ones can be just as tough to get to as the big ones.

Great experience and report. Great call on being selective. Good luck in Mozambique

Great report, Bryan. And some very nice animals. Glad you could finally get a warthog; to me they are so addicting.

Thanks Roger. Warthogs seem very random to me. Some places are better than others but encountering good pigs has some measure of luck. You run into them most trips and I don't! To me, they are targets of opportunity. If we see a good one, I'm interested but mostly I just run into females and young males.

I'm excited to see Moz...finish that leopard...nearly finish T10...see some new country.

Great report
I'm hoping to start the t10 adventure in Aug. I can kick myself for not looking closer at opportunities on previous trips when they presented themselves.

Yes, that is a very common response to T10. Many pass them up on multiple trips and then have to go back later to get them. It's easier to take them as they present themselves. Making a trip for just one of them is expensive.

Nice report. I didn’t hunt the eastern cape until my 9th safari. I was also really impressed and wondering why I didn’t hunt it sooner. I’m going to return for a Vaal rhebok in 2027.

I thought you had been more than that. Take your stiffer boots!

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
