This gun has been sitting in a safe for over 30 years, and I have just gained interest in learning about it and a few others as I figure out my next move as to what to do with them. I posted a 280 Nitro and loved the replies and learned some new insights. I’d love to hear what you think of this one? What kind of interest is out there for old rifles? Are there lots of rifles out there like this? I have an idea of what this one may appraise at, but not so much with the other ones I own. What year is this rifle?

H&H started using Hykro Steel in the 1950s. The bottom plate is probably aluminum. You can call H&H ask what they have for records. If you’re in the US call the Dallas showroom.

It’s an excellent gun. I can look it up in my ledgers to give you the exact year. The gun was modified in the USA for a side-mount which lowers its value a bit, but it is still the most valuable gun you’ve yet posted. We’d need to see if it’s a take-apart design which may make it more valuable. $5000-$12500 depending on latent defects, barrel wear, other modifications, etc.

My ledgers don’t have date ranges for bolt rifles with 4-digit serial numbers. (The higher grades had 5-digit serial numbers and can be more precisely dated) A payment to H&H and they can issue you a provenance letter and give you the exact date. Seeing only a few photos, I would say 1940s to 1970s. If I saw it in person I could be much more precise on its date of manufacture. Gut says it’s 1950s.

That’s a great rifle. 7x57 is both one of the best rounds ever made for whitetail and classic African round. It’s clearly a take-apart. You can see the oversized front screw on the bottom metal, and the split in the tang behind the bolt

Can't go wrong with that, looks like a mid 50,s gun and its a take down. very mint and the scopes of the same era, don't mind the GH mount. I'd buy that faster then a v12 ferrari can run out of gas!!,so long as the price isn't silly. If it's got a case with trade label even better.

It does have the original case. We are thinking there may be paperwork for some of the guns. It is on the weekend plans to check. Love seeing the feedback!
