Hunted
Australia
My mate Greg and I finally got away for a few days hunting in the great Australian outdoors.
Might not have been Africa but any hunt time is a GOOD time.
We were just after a few goats for the pot.
Greg used his Tikka 308 loaded with 150gn round nose and 130gn hollow points.
My weapons of choice were of course my 25 and I decided to see how a shotgun full of buckshot went. It went well.
I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking

Life's tough but someone has to do it, just glad it was my mate and I doing the hard yards

I know a lot of people deam of retiring to Africa for hunting.
My wife has all ways loved Australia and plans to make it over some day.
After I found out how many feral animals y’all have .
If I could still move around to my liking I would rather be there than Africa I think.
Especially with your feral cows and water buff.
I could easily see a old fashioned horses back cow hunt. That was actually a hunt instead of a roundup at the end.

Looks like a nice relaxing hunting/camping trip Bob. Thanks for the photos.

If I come down for a hunt, can I use my .243 on these little goats?

I think he would prefer we save the .243 for big game like it was intended. Maybe he would take some of us on an AH water buffalo hunt. .243s are the only guns allowed. :ROFLMAO:

@Bob Nelson 35Whelen - Congrats on a successful hunt and a good time with your friend!

Do they make solids for the .243?

Good medicine for water buff.

They work really well on those pesky camels, both one hump, or 2 humps…

Ah, the joys of camper camping. So refreshing to have a shower and even a/c now and then instead of a hot tent and a solar shower at best. First time I experience a camper I was in hog heaven.
Plus you never know--one acquaintance of mine is living in his camper after a divorce....

At least you are out there pulling the trigger and grilling some backstrap.

Damn a goat. Love the pics. Thank you for clearing out problems.
@Betterinthebush
Unfortunately they weren't in prime condition but still got some great meat off a couple of them. They are starting to become a problem in the bush again.

@CoElkHunter
It was great to get away mate.
Good for the heart, soul, body and mind .
The fact we got some goats was an added bonus.
It's just good too be in the bush with a good friends. Hunting adds to the experience.

^^this^^ ‘betcha that .243 Win would mop that deck.
@Betterinthebush
The 243 with the right attachment would be fine for mopping the deck. Never thought of using it for that, only tomato stakes.
Definitely not a good hunting cartridge.

@Sabre
You could hunt buffalo with your 243 but you would need a couple of things.
1) a change of underwear
2) the ability to be flexible so when you get charged after annoying said buff with the 243 you can put you head between you legs and kiss your arse goodbye .
3) good running shoes
4) good health cover or funeral insurance.

@steve white
She's an old 1988 caravan so no toilet or shower or air con
We do have a porta-potty, gas shower and aircon we can run off a generator. Also have a diesel heater for those cold nights.
My wife and I spent three months in it traveling around Australia last year in the old van and had a ball. Not flash or fancy but we don't owe anybody anything for it so cheap comfortable camping.

@NIGHTHAWK
On the little ones it might work but not the bigger ones.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

I thought the picture showed a rabbit that was killed with a 243, lol.

On campers, there are always some for sale by FEMA after natural disasters like Katrina, though sometimes there can be a formaldehyde problem that needs fixing. They are provided often for the victims of disasters, and used sales afterward. It is probably cost effective to do a little sweat equity to bring a sound trailer back to snuff. My problem is no where to park it.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
