The 2012 Global Rescue Story Contest - "I Lived to Tell the Tale"

Earlier this year, we asked hunters from across the world to share their stories. Using the theme "I lived to tell the tale", we asked hunters to describe a time when they most needed a Global Rescue membership. We have been blown away by the number of submissions, as well as the stories themselves.

From plane crashes to diamond smuggling operations, to minefields and snake bites - hunters often manage to get themselves in some hair raising situations!

With so many great stories, our judging panel of Jim Shockey, Ivan Carter and Barbara Crown had a difficult time choosing a winner and we would like to extend a big 'thank you' to everyone that took the time to send us their story.

The winner, Robin Siegfried (Wilson, WY), receives a Family Medical and Security Membership ($1,155) and a year's subscription to The Hunting Report ($103.99). The Runner-Up, Fred Williams (Davie, Florida), receives an Individual Medical and Security Membership ($655).

Click HERE to read stories from the winner, the runner-up and the 4 submissions we felt deserved an 'honorable mention'.

Enjoy!

It was day one of the hunt. October 8, 2001. I was wearing my lucky cowboy hat, traveling with a group of executives from our company, mostly from Tulsa, Oklahoma. We were headed to Lake Mollet near Kuujjuarapik, Quebec, Canada for a Quebec-Labrador Caribou hunt.

Thanks for posting a very good read.

some good stories...

The airplane incident is something that happens every year in Canada and Alaska...been close myself.

the ditz that walked into a mind field must have been blond...to walk where no one is in a strange land is asking for trouble.

Do not get on any plane with the winner!!!

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
