NRA,
Greetings and salutations from Vermont! I'm new to this sort of thing. I've always been interested in African safaris, and read Petersons etc. . But knew I was going to need to change professions to go. My wife and I had the good fortune to be the only bidders on a safari with Numzaan safaris on South Africas cape! Now I need to get better aquainted with the goings-on of the how-to's and why-fors of these things.. That is what brought me here to pickup some wisdom from all you fine people!

Bignut, welcome to AH! Check out Safari Guide at the top of the page. It will get you started. You two are going to have a grand time! Hunting Africa is quite different to hunting here in the US. The outfitters and the number of game will quickly spoil you!

Welcome aboard Bignut. You certainly came to the right place. Start your educational journey by looking at previous posts in the various Forums. You can also use the "search" feature to find topics of interest. BTW when does your safari take place?

Yes sir welcome, you've come to the right place. Lots of info here and you can PM just about anyone including myself if you have questions.

Welcome aboard!

We haven't confirmed the date, but in May of 2020. Gives me time to find that elusive 404 Jeffrey...

Your timing is perfect for planning a first safari. Your mention of a 404 Jeffery made my ears perk up. What are you going to be hunting? Now that the Montana Rifle Company is offering 404(s) as part of their standard line up obtaining one is quite reasonable and easy.

I am in search of the hooved menace aka cape buffalo. I know a 404 isn't 100 percent needed, but I've always dreamed of Africa and of the big guns. I'd like to get as close to the old days as possible!

Welcome aboard, lots of people here who will help you on your way.

Welcome to AH Bignut! Lots of information to gather here. Have fun planning!

Bignut, I can appreciate your affection for the 404 Jeffery. Prior to joining AH I'd not heard of it. Now I own two of them. They are very good Buffalo medicine.

Welcome to AH !

Welcome to AH, enjoy the planning process its half the fun of your first safari.

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
