ok so i know for sure if you get any swine you need to have someone one pick up the crate when back to states usda tannery i believe but does that apply to primates too? For some reason i thought it did? Or will i be able to clear myself with primate only?

Thanks

I believe primates are also in the category. To my understanding once its cleared, you can pick up yourself or if you ship it is must go to a USDA approved taxidermist or tannery. I'm not sure about clearing yourself, I'm sure someone on AH will know. I will be going through this same thing in a few months.

your baboon is the same as a warthog. Your taxidermist should be able to help handle that part.

Primates and swine must go straight to the USDA approved tannery - at lease that's when mine came back, Also, they have to be crated seperate, however a crate inside a crate counts.
consult your taxidermist.

I don't have any experience with primates however I do know that if your shipment only includes the skull and tusks of your warthog there are no special clearances or receiving requirements. It is the skin that requires the extra permit and clearance approval. I've picked up several myself.

I forgot to ask, is the taxidermy work done here or there?
If they are done there you can clear it all yourself, no need to send either to a taxidermist. CDC will check the primate to make sure it poses no threat and the same with CBP Agriculture for the warthog and/or bushpig. This can be a mount or just the skull as long as the skull is cleaned with no remaining flesh.
If it's dip and pack skins and skulls both have to go to an approvex establishment for their completion.

Good luck on getting your stuff checked through.

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
