I know this is not most people's cup of tea. It is something fun to do that is challenging in the lightest of wind.

Was doing some practice getting ready for an upcoming match. We walked out targets to some distances some people get intimidated with a center fire. I have posted a few pictures of the rifle on here before.

Here is the rifle, 22LR built by Desert Precision Gun Works LLC, built on a RimX action, Shilen Ratchet Barrel, Bix'N Andy TacSport PRO Trigger 2 stage, MDT ACC premier chassie, Atlas bypod. It is the most accurate 22lr I have owned. Here is the target I was sighting in the rifle with. Had two in the very bottom of the cardboard, made my adjustment, sent two, made another adjustment sent five, made one more and sent it on the new target to confirm zero. It's as close as I can get it with what I'm going with.

He is one of the recovered bullets from today. This is my PR at this point in time. Looking forward to getting them out even further.

Very nice! What ammo are you shooting?
Would be real interested how far you are stretching it out. Amazing what you can do with the lowly LR :)

Wow! That’s quite a poke. Wind is definitely not your friend. Lotta fun though!

Yes was holding 4 mils of wind at the 800 yard target. Was not able to connect. They get blown around pretty well at those distances. It was an adjustment of 51 mils (107'-9") to 700 to make the impact.

Fun! What groupings do you get at 200 or 300?
Also, what distance do you zero? What velocity do you get from that ammo?

I am a big fan of practice with a .22lr barrel on my R8. I have an old swaro 3-9x on it. This makes me want to consider using an extra ballistic turret Z6 for an upgrade.

50 yard zero

Grouping at 200 and 300 depends on wind. In calm conditions you can hold it on a 4", 6" plate.

My barrel is 21.5"s long I'm getting

One of the Hunter Education instructors who I work with is involved in baby benchrest- 22 LR at 100s of yards. He was in PRC but it got to be too hard to find places to shoot a mile or two. The 22LR is quite run without the high power limitations.

Very impressive. I’ve got an extremely accurate anschutz 3 position rifle. You’re giving me some ideas. What scope are you using?

My daughter learned to shoot using a precision 22 rifle and Lapua ammo. She took second place in our state in the NRA 22 competitions. The team she was on has had people get scholarships from shooting. It’s an underutilized way for kids to get college scholarships.
a lot of benefits from quality practice with a 22

Nightforce NX8 4X32X56, have a Razor Gen III coming for it. Hope it ships at the end of the month.

Have had several Anschutz 54s and 64s, the triggers are hard to beat (mine were in OZs).

Nice rifle. I have been shooting a Begara B14 and using the SK long range out to 300. (That is as far as the range I normally shoot at can go) with very good results. Have never had the opportunity to try the Lapua Super long range. If you have shot both is the extra cost of the Lapua SLR worth it over the SK LR? Reading the wind at 300 isn't to hard but I can imagine at 700 it is several orders of magnitude harder! Thank you for sharing.

Excellent. It's a lot of fun to stretch things out and the rimfire allows you to do that on regular ranges versus driving hours to find long range. You will learn a LOT about wind with the rimfire. I probably shoot 50:1 on rimfire versus centerfire. Here's my rig....Vudoo Gunworks action, NF 4-32x, Q El Camino can, MDT chassis, match trigger, etc. Shooting skills are perishable and rimfire keeps you sharp, even during ammo/component shortages and inflation. You don't need an expensive rig. Get your 10/22 or single shot out and become a student of the gun.

Nice rig!

Wow. I need to try some Lapua Super Long Range in my Tikka - just for S&Gs. I doubt it will make 400 (much less 700), but it will be fun to try.

There are just endless ways to spend your money while enjoying shooting.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!
