I am planning to bring my firearm to SA for a hunt. Afterwards, I am interested in doing a side trip to Mozambique to get some beach time, and would plan to leave the firearm in storage in South Africa, and pick it up again before returning to North America. Has anyone done this before? Is it legal to do? Please respond when convenient.

I have left my firearms in licensed storage before while in SA but having never left the country?! . Leaving the country might be a sticky point.
If memory serves, I think the firearms are supposed to leave with you. Not, dead certain on it though.
Perhaps someone has tried.

I would contact Henry @riflepermits.com to find out. He will know.

Without question, Henry will have your answer!

Start with the usual disclaimer, UNLESS REGS HAVE CHANGED, you can do it. In Sept '17, I flew to Joburg from ATL, left my guns with storage co. on arrival at SAPS in the airport, next day went to Moz to fish for a week, returned to Joburg rifles were returned to me on arrival from Moz and then hunted Northern Cape for the next three weeks. No problems.
Doing similar this year, hunt ten days, off to Richards Bay for six days fishing trip and then back to Joburg and home. Guns will be stored until I return from fishing & then will fly home.
Just line everything up in advance. I use Gracy Travel to do my permits and take care of hotel, gun storage and meet and greet services.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
