Hello All-
I have here for sale the best example I have seen of a Sterling Davenport Mauser 98 500 Jeffery, priced at $9000.00. I will only ship to USA FFL. I am going to post a single pic, and if you are serious please PM me and I will provide a link to Slick Pic that has a entire photo album. Included in the sale is a bunch of Woodleigh 600 grain bullets, 175-600gr Weldcore PP, and 75-600gr FMJ. It really like heavy bullets. No, I will not sell them separately. No I do not have dies for sale, and no I don't have any brass I want to give up. I have another 500 J that I use. I have no accurate way to get the measurements for drop and cast, but I can say as you see in the pic that it was built to tradition type stock design purely as an express rifle. It utilizes the NECG slide in front sight so there are multiple options for load development, it will come with a solid brass bead, and a brass bead with flip up ivory. A little further explanation of how the rifle feels....I am 6'1" and it fits me perfectly, I think the rifle is built for a guy my size or a couple inches in either direction. It comes up and the sight picture is instant as a "correct" express rifle should, a little heavy out front. It has a single blade, checkered traditional flag saftey, what appears to be 24 LPI mullered border checkering.. Pachmyar pad that shows some wear and black ash stains from the scorched earth where one would be in pursuit of buffalo or elephant. It has a few dings and has clearly been hunted, I would grade the wood at 90%, metal is perfect. The most unique feature of this rifle is Sterling Davenports rendition of a lipped center feed 3 shot design capacity with fixed coffin type bottom metal held in place by his renowned engraved allen head action screws. I have had the gun apart and the entire barreled is bedded.. I have no idea how to get the bottom metal out of the stock, the fit is so tight and seamless I would not want to try and if I were to want to teardown completely, would take to someone that has a lot more skill than myself. The combination of Mauser CRF extractor with a center feed lipped design provides 100% reliable, smooth as silk straight up the tube function. No hitchs, no dinged cases or dented shoulders, no bullet tips angling in and getting damaged while chambering, he was truly a master. SERIOUS Inquiries only, price is right, not going to haggle and I don't need anything on trade.
Here are the details of the rifle:
24" Barrel
10.35 lbs
13.75" LOP
