Good day hunters!

My name is Rohan Peacock. I am in the process of opening an agency that provides Hunting Consultation for clients who wish to hunt in South Africa. The company will be based in Pretoria, South Africa. The first name of choice for the company will be the initials of my late father; HDP Safaris. But until I register the company I cannot know if it will hold. It will be a PTY(Ltd). I will first hunt any destination first, before representing the outfitter. My focus will be on covering as many types of contracts with outfitters who provide different game, territory, and accomodation, so that I can customize your safari to your personal requirements.

I have been hunting for almost twenty years now. But I am very new to the business industry. I will provide a quality service, one that is specific and where all the information I relay about the outfitter is as recent as possible.

I hope to be up and running within the next year but things happen and I will take the good with the bad.

I hope I get to know you all better and I invite all criticism and any type of advice. Im not looking to get a free ride anywhere, I just want to be involved in this industry all the time.

Regards

Rohan

Welcome to your new venture...

Hunting a concession is a great way to know the area and give first hand knowledge of what you see.

I would suggest you produce a video of each group you represent to show potential clients.

Keeping a hand on to fix problems is one topic to stay at the top...

Thank you, I need all the luck I can get.

Lekke Jag!

Welcome to the forum, Rohan, and good luck !

Good luck with your business venture.
Keep us up to date.

Thanks, I will definitely keep you up to date. It's going to be a long hard road but I will succeed!

Thank you very much.

All the best.

Thanks, I want to include the prices for a very good video camera and photography camera in my business proposal to apply for a loan.

Welcome to AH Rohan! Good Luck with your venture.

Rohan, where in PTA are you based I'm in the east of PTA.

Cheers and good luck.

Hey Hunters,

I submitted 5 names for my business in order of preference. I just found out that the name HDP Safaris has been reserved for me by an agent. The name is not registered by any other company as far as we know. Now I must go through CIPRO to register this name, along with the primary objectives of the business- amongst various other things. Things are looking good.

In the 'Primary Activities' list I wrote: Hunting Consultation; Bookings at hunting lodges; Meet and greet at OR Tambo; Shuttle service from OR Tambo to concession and back; Preparing/working with licences and permits for clients to enter RSA with rifles/shotguns/handguns and for clients to leave with trophies; Hunting with the outfit on their concession/private land at least once before signing any contracts with the outfit. I won't go into business with any outfit that purposefully cuts corners and violates the ethical code of hunting in order to get a few extra dollars, especially when it's at the expense of the client or the animal. I know the nature of hunting and sometimes the situation calls for drastic measures, but we should'nt use that as an excuse to act the same way in the future.

The intials HDP stands for Hermann Dominikus Peacock. My father was an engineer and was passionate about adventure, fishing, and hunting in particular. His life was cut short before he made a booking in Tanzania to fulfil his dream, which was to hunt Buffalo and other plains game in East Africa.

I will keep you all up to date.

I am on TWITTER under the name HDP Safaris(Rohan Robert Peacock), and I am on Linkdin under my name, and I am also on Facebook. I will only use the former two applications for building rapport with clients, professional hunters, outfitters, and their associates, and as a means to advertise and promote my business. Please feel free to criticise/advise me with the direction I am steering the company, I take everything in an objective light and I value your opinion. I am still young and very new to the business world, and my experience with DG hunts is minimal.

Lekker jag!

Best of luck on your venture!!

Thank you, it's going to be great!

Save for the pot-holes and any unforseeable situations, HDP Safaris should make it's first booking within a year from January 2012.

Keep us posted when you get your website setup we'll be wanting to check it out.

Was nice meeting you on Sat at the Big bore shoot next time you will hopefully have your own big bore to shoot with.

Cheers

Thanks, it was good to be out amongst the "heavies"! I will definitely join BASA soon, great bunch.
Yes, I hope so too. I am leaning towards the .416Rem in M70 Win Safari Express as an all-rounder

Keep well.

From the sounds of things you are progressing one step at a time. Sounds good.

The Video camera is a great move and with practice we hope to see some of your footage.

While building your web site use Google as a guide. You will want your business to be on the first page, however no further back that the 3 page when you put in search queries.

We have seen some that have built nice to great web sites that can only be found by using the exact web address. You generate business when parties can find your web easily.
