Hopefully this is the correct forum.

Just wondering if anyone in the industry has an idea if Southwest will recover in time for the Dallas Safari Club Convention next week. I'm booked for Jan 5 arrival at Dallas Love Field and guessing a good number have similar flights.

2,357 out of 2,451 SW flights are cancelled today (12/29/22) per Fox News, so not looking too good right now.

Not sure if SWA will be back in time for DSC, its going to be a problem for lots of folks. SWA business model of not using hub and spoke, takes longer to schedule flights based on equipment location.

A buddy is planning to fly SWA from St. Louis to Harlingen on Jan 15. Our annual duck hunt. Most of us driving down and we plan on picking him up on the way. Fingers crossed! SWA used to have its act together but seems to have a lot of issues post COVI!

I leave on Saturday to spend some time with inlaws prior to the show. I've tracked my flight number and so far it has gone thru on time in last week. Not much winter weather to worry about here in Phoenix or if planes are coming from the west. Fortunately I have a few days more before the show starts, so if I get delayed a day or two, so be it.

Now for the return trip, that's another story, but I'm hoping by two Sundays from now they've got their act together.

I travel SW all the time and did not feel comfortable with all the cancelations. Yesterday I cancelled my flight on SW and booked American into DFW.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My husband works for Alaska Airlines so I don't have any privy information to share. I wonder if you could rebook right now (they might refund your money because of the circumstances) just to be safe. Good luck to you. I wish I was going to DSC but couldn't do it this year.

I just got the same email....so we shall see.

I checked today's reported SW Flight Status this afternoon (12/29/22) - ABQ to DAL (Love Field) and also DAL to ABQ:

All of the early (6:00 AM-ish) departing flights were cancelled. Most mid-morning and later flights looks like they were completed (especially the direct flights).

Fox News reported a few minutes ago that Southwest is saying they expect normal operations starting tomorrow (12/30/22). Hope that's correct.

I’m not taking a chance. Just switched over to Delta yesterday from SW

I wonder if Southwest knows how much this may impact their business going forward. If they were handling an essential leg of my Haiwaian journey and I missed a non refundable trip I would be off their user list forever...don't know if I can trust them with anything truly important.

I missed Dallas last year after checking in in Denver for Dallas. got to the gate and received a text flight cancelled, They couldn't reschedule me for 48 hrs that was Sunday am so I cancelled out! It wasn't a cheep ticket but "fully refundable.....ie voucher). My bag wasn't delivered back to me for several days! Even their credit card wouldn't refund my ticket.
So despite being burned twice in 3 mo on SW from Denver I used the voucher for SCI,
Then came time for Vegas for SCI also a business class Southwest ticket and same thing happened at the gate (flight cancelled) and thanks for my daughter and her company's United concierge service and a quick call from her to United and 18 min to go across the Denver airport I was the last to board a half full flight on United but it took 2 days for SW to get my bag to Vegas and that was a S__t show in it self!
One can't beat the 10min Uber ride from Love Field to the hotel vs 1+ and now 100 bucks from DFW!
But I'm personally done with SW especially out of Denver! Burn me three times and I"m done even with their credit card! My scheduler knew that I like going into Love Field and booked SW out of Denver for next week (my fault as I failed to say no more SW) but changed and now I'm on United to DFW Thursday and SW can keep their voucher ticket to apply it to their pending bankruptcy!
The US taxpayer needs to stop subsidyzing airlines and bailing them out and open up the airways to the free market!

Sorry for the long rant, but I hope to see as many of you at DSI as can get there, what the vast majority of us love and support has been so hurt by Covid the last 3 years this we really don't need.

Well it’s 6:59am here in Phoenix and we just pulled away from our gate. Departure was scheduled for 7am, so all good it appears for us.

My sister-in-law is a SWA flight attendant and is visiting us now. Everyone thinks it will get worked out but there may be bumps in the road. The last CEO milked the company dry and never reinvested in the technology required to run this airline.
Id probably keep your booking.
See yall at DSC!
