I talked my Dad into going To Africa and I have to say everything was so much better than we could ever imagine! We both can’t wait to go back, we hunted at High Veld Safaris and truly had a trip of a lifetime! I got every animal on my list including my number 1 dream animal kudu and number gemsbok! We are already talking about planning to come back in two years! I’m looking for some ideas on baboon mounts and would love to see what yall have come up with!

Congratulations! :D Beers: and Welcome to AH:S Welcome:

Wow, wonderful animals! I too was blessed to hunt with my Dad in Africa, now that he has passed I have many wonderful memories to think back upon! Good luck planning your next African safari with your Dad!!

Congratulations on your first Safari! Extra special doing it with your father.
Here’s my baboon, I also had the skull bleached. This is the only African mount I’m not totally satisfied with. The only thing wrong with it is the taxidermist didn’t fill in the nasal ridges. If I had to do it again I would probably go with an open top.

That is awesome I thought they had to have the skull to do the taxidermy, I may do the same thing! I do want to go with an open mouth looking like he’s gonna attack.

Glad you had a great trip with your dad. Where are you from? There’s lotsa guys on here from Texas.

Congratulations on your hunt!

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Like most the africa bug bites, you have the second safari planning started around the firs on the last night around the fire and have your list by the time the plane lands in your home country.

Congratz on a great first safari.

Congrats, I took two of my sons a couple of years ago to the NW province and had a fantastic hunt and trip. Memories are always the most cherished possessions we can achieve in life.

Congratulations on your very successful hunt! In my opinion, having been able to experience this hunt with your Dad makes it the hunt of a lifetime.

Nice trophies and great looking rifle. What are you shooting?
I’m not sure what make the rifle was, it was the PH’s gun but it was a 308. I kept trying to talk him into selling it, I loved that rifle!

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
