Hello,
I’m would like to know if any bowhunters have flown to Johannesburg via Singapore and if they had any issues with their equipment. Apparently bows over 60lbs and broadheads are prohibited items. Now I’m not sure if that includes airport transfers or not, I’ve sent an email to their customs website but it could be 5-15 days for a response. Broadheads I can make other arrangements, could use it as an excuse for a new bow but expensive and not so easy to get where I’m at (Japan). Airline website said no problem on archery equipment, Singapore customs website says otherwise. Appreciate you taking the time to read my post.

You could call Barbara Crown at SCI Hunter information service and see if she has any resources that can answer this question. It's a u inquest one for sure!

I don’t have an answer to your question, but have flown into that airport a number of times. It’s not a place you want to get crossed up with govt regulations. I’d take their word over the airlines. If you’re not in possession of it while in the airport, that may be your out as you point out. You may find the warning signs to potential drug smugglers of interest. Safe travels!

Bows over 60lbs draw weight are now considered controlled items. Not illegal but you need permission.

What is ridiculous is their ruling of "certain tips" for arrows and the list includes broad heads, blunts and field tips as weapons. Essentially any arrow tip, lol.

Sir,
Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the information. I did see the part regarding tips also and was confused about that, as there are several archery clubs and shops there apparently. After reading on here about Amsterdam and the broadhead policy there I figured I’d look further into my own itinerary. Seen too many Locked Up Abroad episodes to leave anything to chance! Again thanks for the reply.

A group of us got taken by security at Changi Airport in Singapore. All because we each had binoculars in our bags. They were very suspicious that we were Chinese spies or some such.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
