Unless we’re limited to African hunting, some would argue that at least two .35-cal rounds constitute viable DG cartridges since they’ve accounted for a fair share of big bruins and moose in Alaska over the years.

Pictured here, those two would be the .35 Whelen (middle) and the world’s first short magnum, the .350 Remington Mag (right):

My experience with that round is a grand total of three shots. That's enough for me for one lifetime. I even had my big boy pants on. Didn't make any difference to the recoil.

I shoot my 500 NE on a regular basis. First let me say it weights 11.5 LBS. That helps. Second, most all the shooting I do is with light/minimal powder charges since I reload all my own ammo. With that said, it is actually fun to shoot! However working up hunting loads was a bit challenging. Now that I have the loads I want (for hunting), I will not shoot full charges other than at game and or to validate my sights are OK after flying. When I was firing on buffalo in Sept., it handled like a 22LR. ;-)

Nice battery of cartridges you men have here Gentlemen, .com dummy here and cant post pics, but here are mine:

9.3x62mm, 320gr Woodleigh PP and solids along with 280gr BBW #13 solid, 2400 and 2500 fps.
375 H&H, 300gr A-frames and BBW #13 solids, 2680 and 2700 fps.
400 Whelen, 400gr Woodleigh, A-Frame softs and BBW #13 solids, 2255 fps.
400 H&H, 400gr A-Frames and BBW #13 solids, 2400 fps.
458 Win Mag, 450gr TSX, 500gr Partitions and Sledgehammer solids, 2400 and 2300 fps.
500-450 Nitro, 450gr Northfork cup and flat nosed solids, 2210 fps.
505 Gibbs, 600gr Woodleigh PP and solids, at a very reserved 2150 fps, will easily go 2500+ if you want to hang on to it ; ]
500 Nitro, 570gr Barnes TSX and flat nosed solids, 2186 fps.
577 Nitro, 750gr Barnes TSX and flat nosed solids, 2076 fps.
