Show me yours, I’ll show you mine

i agree there is just something about a nice sporterized 03 springfield, I don,t know who did this one as I bought it at public auction and a fraction of the cost to get the work done. it has a ex bore and does very well with my reloads of 55 grs IMR 4350 and a 165gr nosler BT.

This is the most used gun. I did shoot from my left shoulder when I hurt my right eye, but I don't wear rings. The origin of these traces is a mystery to me. Maybe it's because of my way of carrying a gun in the Bush.

These guns look like one of the Merkel, and the USM is similar (double spring), but the original locking. O / U 20 Magnum and combi (20 + 7, 62x54R)

And why such a spiral form from the tubular magazine?

And why such a spiral form from the tubular magazine?

That was to cause the cartridges to tip in the magazine so that the points wouldn't rest on the primer of the cartridge ahead of it. So pointed ammo could be used, unlike the straight tubes in the Winchester and Marlin repeaters.

yes, that's right. but I only shoot 200 gr round nose bullets at 2000 fps.

Here Above is my favorite Classic Bolt action rifle I use for Hunting Game in the US and plains game in Africa. It is a custom Griffin and Howe M1903 Springfield in caliber 30.06. It has refinements G&H would make to a Government M1903 rifle that, back after WWII, a member of the NRA could purchase from Uncle Sam and Ship to a custom Gun maker to Sporterise. I inherited this one from my Uncle and recently had an English Walnut Stock made in the style that Stewart Edward White used in his trips to Africa in the early 1900s. I did the fininshing of the stock and equiped it with a RedField 2x-7x Revolution Scope. All the rest of the work on the bolt, receiver, bolt checkering sights are the original G&H customising.View attachment 265410

A Stevens Favorite 22RF that I built for my best friend of close to 60 years to give to his only Grandson. He gave it to me 30years ago and said that it was his Grand Father's rifle. My buddy deserved to keep it in the family.

I like this thread. I can add more later. I'm only a one finger typist.

Wow! You could supply an army with that collection. Very nice pieces. I saw some of my all time favorites: the Garand, the 1911s and the single action revolvers.

A couple of my favorite CB Kudu Ruger No 1 in 300 H&H and Ruger RSM in 416 Rigby. Makes for a nice traveling pair.

Ray, James Anderson took the photos after he was done with it. Turk Takano, a shooting friend in the area, has worked for a big Japanese gun mag for 35years or so. He cae over one day with his lights and background things and tried to give me lessons. I decided that maybe it would be better to have a good photographer take them. You can probably tell that I did the photo work with them laying on the gray towel.
I did make the fixture for a photographer friend that would allow him to slide the weapon on the pin, covered with a plastic sleeve, to be able to photo from any angle.

I don't have any fancy ones but lots of close to my heart, serious hunting companions. Don't have pix yet of a couple others-in due time I suppose.
My old model 70 winchester (1951 or 52 by the serial number) in .30-06, Grandpa's gun. Supposedly the barrel was "shot out" I handload for it and I assure you, it was never shot out, just needed some love.
Savage 12fcv.223-rifle basix trigger and careful handloading turned it into a force to reckon with, heavy but have multiple supremely accurate loads for it.
.300 win mag Remington 700 on sticks, "big Frank" probably my favorite rifle. Went to S. Africa with me.
7mm-08 remington 700-"little Frank" bought in for my girls and it performs so well I end up taking it more often than they do.
Remington 7stw-More custom than not and the most expensive rifle I own. Also the only one I haven't killed a big game animal with-maybe it just needs a good opportunity!
