Ok guys anyone shipping some hides and skulls back from South Africa lately? Trying to get an idea of what it would cost to send back a few zebra hides and a impala skull.

Depends on how many zebras you're talking but probably less than a thousand

I did a dip, pack and crate in Port Elizabeth and then shipped 1 zebra hide and then cape, horns and skulls for 2 kudu, 2 nyala, 2 impala, 1 blesbok and 1 eland. Air shipped to Seattle. The shipping portion was $1100.

Are you going to have the zebra hides tanned in RSA? In hindsight, that's probably the best thing to do, especially if you are talking more than one zebra.

Yea I was thinking about having them tanned there. I'd have to bring them to Seattle too so this is good info!

if your just doing rugs I would get it tanned over there. The price really does not change that much on shipping on a order like your talking. One hide or skull will not change the total by much so if he got that order shipped for 1100 you will be near that and that sounds about right. Just don't take the quote the taxidermist gives you and check others for price to. I have used rex freight with good results and price.

The agent I've used with Coppersmith in Seattle has been super to deal with. If you'd like her contact info, PM me and I provide it to you.

Without Volumetric Weight and destination you can not truly compare the $ amount.

He listed the destination, and as for weight I was just comparing it to some of the shipments about similar size that I've had shipped.

What were the vol weights of your similar shipments?

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
