for years I have purchased things by ordering them via telephone and internet, And for years I have received them with very good service from the USPS and UPS. Last week I purchased a couple small items from Numrich (a scope mount and magazine spring). They were sent Federal Express. The items were placed for shipment Thursday 1/24. With the tracking number it shows that the packet went from New York to New Jersey to a suburb of Cleveland to Chicago, arriving there on Monday. Then for some unknown reason it went to Genoa,WI; which if you aren't aware of Genoa's location, it is several miles from any Interstate highway and on no route to anywhere. This was noted at 2AM on Tuesday. the scheduled date of deliver was today, however no further entry was made on the packages travels until a few minutes ago when it seem to have made it to Portland Oregon. This involves a detour of several hundred miles as Portland is about 300 miles South
West of this location. It is clear that the package will not be delivered on time, that it will have taken twice as long as a similar package that would have been sent by either USPS or UPS and even with a week to travel, will still be at least one day late, and possibly not be delivered until Monday, a full eleven days after processing. I contacted FedEx and just get a computer to converse with. I'm sending notice to any company from which I make purchases, Under NO circumstances are they to send via FedEx!!

Well travelled parts. Think of all the experience!

I'll pay more elsewhere rather than buy from a vendor that uses Fed Ex. From my experience with them, they're the worst.

+1

I don't know if FedEx is any worse than any of the others.

I watched a package that I had ordered go through my town 3 times before it finally hit the local USPS office here, but it was delivered on time or on the day that they said that it would be here. The only problem with that is we don't have local mail delivery and need to go to the office to pick up our mail at a PO box or in the lobby. Usually by the time you know that it is ready for you to pick it up they are closed.

The actual best service that I have had has been UPS except for one time years ago.

The package was finally delivered; processed Thursday Jan 24 to Feb 1. 8 days to get a 1 pound package 2" x 3" x 4" across the country. It doesn't say what Numrich paid, but the $12 for USPS priority would have gotten it across the country in two days, as would UPS. How FedEx stays in business is a mystery to me.

I live about 120 miles from Midway USA, if I have an order shipped USPS it will usually take at least a week and pass me at least 3 times, it's no wonder the USPS is always going broke. A few years ago if I ordered by 1:00 pm I would get my stuff the next day .

If you really want something fast you have to go next day air, it doesn't matter who you are dealing with.

But remember this. Next day is not your next day. You order on Monday the warehouse next day is Wednesday since they get the order at either the end of the day on Monday or Tuesday. So it ships on Wednesday hits the shipper that night and goes out Thursday, you are lucky to get it on Friday. Unless you are lucky like me and they ship it USPS and I get a note in my PO box that I have a package that I can pick up at the window, but now the window is closed and I have to wait until Saturday.

I've always used UPS for the real important stuff or USPS for the not so important stuff.
Even gone so far as to get a box at the UPS Store because door step package theft became a problem.
My only issue with the UPS Store is they won't ship "gun" parts or an actual firearm.
For that you have to go to the UPS facility and they are fine with it.
Shipped a scope out to another member from the UPS Store and told the clerk it was a "telescope" to get it done.
The clerk knows me, and he knows what it is...it is just their policy which kinda sucks.
BTW - They have no problem receiving a firearm, just shipping one.

DHL.....needed a new credit card and my brother picked it up from the bank in jersey and took to DHL at 4pm on the Friday, and it was in mainland UK that night and I got call from DHL in lusaka Tuesday morning and I had it in my hands at 11am ....so not bad

If my wife or I have had any shipping issues with orders, it usually involves FedEx.
As a side note, before I retired, I was a shipping manager, so I tend to pay attention to OTR trucking. It has become a joke with my wife and I that if there is an accident involving trucks on the news, how many times a FexEx truck (particularly doubles) is involved in the accident.

The shipper is probably using a Garmin or Onstar shipping directions, my problem with Fed Ex is their inability to find my front door

UPS uses the "right turn only" rule to avoid accidents.
I don't know how effective it is, but there must be some benefit to it if they keep doing it.
