Scimitar Oryx Hunt Texas

I was at SCI in Las Vegas this year and saw pictures and brochures of a Texas ranch with these beauties offered-I was wowed by the scimitar Oryx!!>I was impressed and the pricing compared to what it would be in S Africa was reasonable!!The plane ride and gun hassles makes Texas look all that more inviting for these rare beauties.I am going for sable in Limpopo and the comparison is valid!!! I will definitely consider Texas as the proximity to Colorado where I live makes it a Do-able event for me!!Also--I think its a valid point that those Texas ranchers are preserving and extending the exotic species here in the USA since there are no more allowed into this country starting years ago! Kudos to them and their foresight!!!

Like James mentioned, am Axis hunt in TX is a great experience. To get on a real good one is no easy task

If you're paying, let me know when to book my flight!(y)

I'm not questioning the ethics of this, just saying I wouldn't go out for Chinese and order a steak. But everyone is entitled to their preferences. Not picking a fight in any way.

Do you eat Chinese food outside of China? :D (I understand your point and on a small plain agree in principle).

If so, maybe you could hunt oryx outside of their traditional range. As mentioned, it's these ranches that are preserving huntable populations of several species. I have done 2 oryx hunts in Texas but I do draw the line at kudu :)

Well they call it Chinese, but it's really just coyote!

Steve-

Thank you again for your insights with Limcroma Safaris. I just saw your post and will tell you a few years back right befor they require ESA permits I hunted a Scimitar Horned Oryx for a very good rate. It was a great hunt. I choose spot and stalk and took my shot standing on shooting sticks. Using a 30-06 180g accu-bond bullet drop the Oryx at just under 100 yards. it appears they have gone up in cost since then but you will find may ranches are negotiable on hunting them.

Rick

Just moving to DM. Yes, please ask your friend if he knows somebody who might be willing to support a persistent hunt in the snow.
