Hello,

I have a Ruger RSM in .458 Lott for sale. $2875 (firm) shipped from myself (private party with copy of DL) to your FFL. I do NOT have the ability to ship from an FFL. They all balk at that around here due to big liability on a small transaction.

Price includes basic shipping. I will pack it for shipping very well. If you want insurance that will be at your cost but I am happy to add it. Price does not include scope but will include rings. It will be available at this price until Thursday (3/23) evening only, so if you want it please speak up right away. I'll allow a few days to receive payment but please have funds available if you agree to buy it. I do not have the ability to accept plastic. I will try to post better pictures later. I have another of the same rifle with nicer wood grain so this one will go. I was thinking of converting it to a .505 Gibbs but have decided to buy one instead. Let me know if you have any questions. Sure. My name is Jake and I'm from Northern MN. I have been to Africa twice. The 1st time was 9 years ago and then again last September. My first trip was for tourism only (Tanzania and Egypt) and my trip last year was for plains game in S.A. My fiance and I together took Impala, blesbok, kudu, sable, zebra, Blue and Black Wildebeest, gemsbok, and Springbok. We are both absolutely hooked and can't wait to go back. I plan on chasing dangerous game on our next trip which will likely be next year. I have been collecting dangerous game calibers for the last year. They include a .375 Ruger custom rifle, a Browning Safari in .375h&h, RSMs in .375h&h, .416 Rigby, and (of course) the .458 Lott x2. I also have a .416 Ruger. Today, I bought a .404 Jeffery, so it's a big day! I have a double rifle in .45-70 on the way, also. It is winter in the northland (with a ton of snow this year) so I haven't done much shooting in the last few months but I've put a few rounds down-range. I work in healthcare management for a living. I've been an avid whitetail hunter my whole life and last year I harvested my 50th documented deer. My user name on GB is freebird1977 and I have over 120 transactions with nothing but positive feedback. I'm happy to speak with interested parties on the phone. PM me for contact info. I will be listing the rifle on GB Thursday night. One just sold earlier today at over 3k. And you'll pay several hundred $ in sales tax on GB so here's a chance to save $500-$700 or so. I'd rather give someone a better deal on here.

2.5 hours northwest of JBurg. Africa Maximum Safaris. It measured 54.5 inches. I was very happy with it. Especially since at 55 inches the hunt price would have gone up by $2k more. That half inch saved me 2 grand.

What are the issues associated with buying a gun from a private seller that has to be shipped without an FFL being involved on the seller end?

My local FFLs have zero interest in taking on the liability for a $3000 rifle for the $30 they would be able to charge for the service. They would rather deal with their own sales than with a private party sale that generates very little revenue but a ton of liability for them. I live in a mostly rural area and am not willing to spend a lot of time driving a significant distance to find an FFL that will do it. My apologies. I've struggled with that issue before so I find it best to just be up front and tell people that isn't an option on my end.

As far as the sale goes, there are no issues as long as your FFL with accept a gun from a private party. Your process is the same as far as paperwork and fees.

That is a pretty good price these days. OP is correct, these have been going for over 3k on GB and GI. The 416 Rigby even more.

Thanks Captain Munro. In my town the rifle that sold last night on GB (that I posted a link to) would cost $3382.13 after paying the required sales tax, shipping, and BS 1% fee that GB charges. Buyers here have a chance to own the same rifle delivered for $512.13 less. I'll net more or less the same money either way but I'd rather sell it to someone that has the same appreciation for its intended use as I do. If no one speaks for it I'll post a link to the auction tomorrow night. Buyers have until 6pm central time tomorrow to speak for it. I post it at 7pm.
