The Ruger No. 1, ya that’s a good one, totally under priced for what it is, IMO.
That design is definitely a favorite of quite a few members here.
Even yours truly is quite fond of them.
The very first caribou that I ever bagged, was with a vintage No.1, with Leupold 2.5x fixed powered scope.
It was in caliber .375 H&H, loaded with the now sadly discontinued Winchester factory loaded 270 grain “Power-Point” semi-spitzer bullet.

Ruger No.1 45-70 I sold a No.1S-C 45-70 earlier this year, a Lipsey’s with a 26” C weight barrel. That one was 1 of 250 made.
Do you want a 22” or 26” barrel?
Some of the newer 45-70’s have a shorter leade and either won’t chamber or have a hard time chambering 400 grain and heavier bullets. Ruger knows this and insists the rifle is set up right.
