Hi all
Im in need of some information ,im based in Australia but a New zealand citizen born and breed in zimbabwe and still a zimbabwean citizen,
I am looking at moving back to zimbabwe later this year as a returning resident and want to be able to take all my firearms with me ( 9 in total ) the question is has anybody succeeded taking firearms there permanently
and if so how or whats the best way to go about it successfully ,can they be brought in as part of your belongings duty free
all or any kind of help would be appreciated

Gary I wish you much luck. Perhaps one of our resident PHs working Zim can comment.

"Registrar of firearms" website does not appear to be working.
If you can find contact information they are the responsible.

Hi Garry,

You will need a import license. I will contact one of our few licensed firearm dealers and try and put the two of you in contact with you. I could give you some guidelines, but this man is the best in his field.

Thanks for helping out Lon

Hi please contact Premeesh @ preemesh@doolabh.com
I believe this is the correct email address if not contact me feel free to use the name Tokoloshe. He will tell you the hoops that you have to jump through.

All the best in your decision to go back.

Hopefully you will be one of the first of many to return.

Hi I don't know if you have made contact with Preemesh, but a heads up on a couple of things normally 5 firearms are the most any individual is the max. A safari company may be allowed to posses more. You will need a reason for possessing. A police inspected gun safe. A import permit for each and I believe $350.00 each. Semi auto ok, but most semi auto military rifles prohibited.
Then there is the import tax possibly as a returning citizen. The import tax 40% may be different.
Cheers

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
