Remington 788, 30-30

Remington Model 788, 22" in 30-30. Barrel markings are EP, Oct. 1967
From some research I found that the 30-30 cal. was produced for 3 years and not as common as the other calibers. This is not a safe queen. It shows it was hunted with but not abused. The Bluing is 96+% on the barrel and bottom metal. The bore is perfect. The rear sight ramp looks as though there was some sort of sight clamped to it. I have no idea what would cause the marks on it. There is a ding in the metal next to the mag well where it looks like the previous owner was in a hurry to insert a the mag and nicked the wood and metal.

The wood shows a repair in the spot next to the magazine. Looks like Brownell's Acraglas with some Brown dye. Close up picture shows it. There is another spot in the stock that has the same type of fix. The stock has no splits, cracks or deep gouges except for those two spots but as stated it was hunted and does have some scratches in the wood. The rifle comes with swivel studs and the factory plastic butt plate

Overall a honest hunting rifle that has some years in the field. It wouldn't take much to refinish the stock in the 1967 style since there is no checkering on this model. I also have the original Brown and White box with some paperwork, not perfect but it comes with the rifle. I can send the Imgur link for all the close up pictures

I had approx 30 788's in my collection over the years in all calibers and barrel lengths. These hurt the sales of the 700 ADL's as they had great barrels in them and were very accurate rifles. Nice looking 788 in 30-30!

I remember Layne Simpson telling some one he had a 30-30that would group less than an inch for 5 shots.
Long story short he got out his 788 and proceeded to do it.
would have loved one but had the 22/250 and have the 222 in the 788. I had the opportunity to get one in 243 but no way was that happening would like one in 358 and 44 mag

They also had an extremely fast lock time of 1.7 milli seconds.
The trigger was the weak link but they can be modified to be similar to the timney. Mine is set at 1 and a half pounds.
