Last week it was raining on my days off so the lady and I went to lunch and wandered around Casper Wyoming. We went to Triggers for some local honey and found these AHR leather "things", no idea what they are used for. There must be a part of the kit missing as there is just the female side of a snap button on these pieces. At another shop, we found this gem of a beat up Marlin 336 30 30 and I couldn't let it go. She is going to be my project, I love the patina but it needs some TLC and the stock is cracked in three spots around around tang. I have thoes currently "fixed". I used devcon epoxy and put barbed pins in, I'm not to hopeful it's a long term fix. When I can find some 30 30 ammo, I'll take her out and see how she shoots before I spend any more money. Probably check head space before firing also. Seems like a ranch rifle to me, atleast I'd like to think that and not just outright neglect. I was wondering if the way the blue is still good on the top part of the lever it was in a scabbard for long periods? The left side is wore harder then the right side too but have no idea how or why. SN dates to 1976, she is fully disassembled and cleaned up. Barrel looks good far as I can tell. We will see how this all shakes out. John

I have what amounts to a twin Marlin 336 C but mine is in 35 Remington. My stock was repaired with wood screws covered over with a little epoxy type wood filler. Eventually I put a Williams 94/36 aperture sight on it. I paid $75.00 for mine back in 1977. On occasion the old girl still goes hog and or whitetail hunting.

The first deer I shot was with my dad's Marlin 35 Remington.
Dove in tonight, another snow day for work. The Birchwood Casey blue rust remover works great. I was thinking about bluing myself. I read a DIY write up a long time ago on Bear Tooth bullets web site. But I think I'll have it blued professionally to even out the different tones and wear in the metal during prep. Waiting on ammo to arrive to see how she shoots before and further work and money.

Look forward to seeing your finished Marlin, I have a 1980 Texan .30-30, it's one of my favorite Marlins.

Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
