Sitting at an airport between flights realizing I had one of the most fun shooting days in years, and on a Monday of all things. And after flying halfway across the country to do so.

Left me super appreciative of the ability to sneak out and just enjoy a beautiful sunny day. To enjoy some show and tell of another forum member’s vault, it triggers that almost child-like enthusiasm
of going over to a friends house after Christmas to see what kind of wonders he unwrapped, and share stories of your own, just in a slightly more geriatric way. Super good time, and educational for me. While I’ve had decades of shooting sports and hunting, I’m new to doubles, so hanging out with one of our seasoned members with exponentially more double experience and every bit as much enthusiasm just made for a special day.

Lots of sunshine, snow dusted mountain tops, poking holes in paper, and even blowing up chunks of wood and random things called by the shooter…with a 100+ yo Westley Richards no less. Might have also counted as a new gun or first range day, but seemed so much mo-better than that.

I did learn one thing with absolute certainty. If I had to choose someone to shoot at me with a double…it sure AF wouldn’t be our @MacJenkins. Not just a cool, sexy mo-fo, but the man CAN shoot an double and well.

Ok, little eye candy to help express the reasoning in my appreciation for the day. Looking back, wishing I’d taken better pictures, but hard to do when more fun to be had.

And as much as we seem to complain about flying with firearms, it sure is a lot more simple at home. This quick trip proved efficient for me, since I was able to swing through customs for my 4457 form at Mac’s hometown airport, since it’s a 3-hour drive and almost always at the wrong time for me to try and make the Anchorage office.

Plus Mac had quasi Christmas with a couple weeks of random boxes of rifle & shooting goodness show up…which he’d have to open since they could be one he’d ordered or ones I ordered before arriving, and funny how some resembled the other…ordering similar reloading components from the same place within days of each other.

If down from Alaska, since I can’t order ammo and have it shipped up, any trip becomes an opportunity to gather harder to find ammo. Truly appreciated it Mac, the hassle didn’t go u recognized brother.

So part of this abbreviated adventure was to see if I could get the new Heym 89b to regulate easily where I could possibly bring it on a rapidly approaching trip. Since Mac is even more of a 450NE enthusiast with wealth of knowledge in the cartridge and helped in my acquisition of the the rifle in the first place, wanted him to have a chance to shoot it as well…and wanted to check out and shoot his gorgeous version of the same.

So my rifle is heavier than his, based on a G action, it’s about a full pound heavier than my 88b in 470…making it chunky (curvy maybe) gal, but true joy to shoot. Was more than happy with how she shot too, factory Hornaday, his favorite pet loads, even a fun reduced 350gr load he had, the rifle shot superbly, admittedly more so when he was one firing.

Even with the rifle shooting the Hornady so well, Mac suggested trying the CEB loads his Heym 89b 450 loves so much.

Mine was the same. This is a pair of 450gr CEB solids and a pair of 420gr CEB Raptors. Rifle seems like a shooter.

Once all the work was done, then whiskeys. Great day all around.

It was a pleasure having you out to our little corner of Utah. Looking back we should have taken at least a few more doubles out at a minimum to shoot.

Glad we could fit this into both our schedules! You have an amazingly accurate double, can’t wait to see pictures with it sitting beside some critters.

Thank you. Hope to provide those pics in the near future.

And agree, we never should have neglected your other Heyms nor your 577. Next time we’ll need to get them into the sunshine and hopefully few other.

Where did the rifle rack come from?
I think I got it in Reno roughly 20 years ago from Lewis Drake. Would need to see if there is any branding on it.

I've seen some elsewhere recently but don't rememember who had them but they were north of $1000. And no they are not worth that IMO.

Thank you @mdwest for taking the time to post this link!

@MacJenkins please don’t hesitate to let us know if you are interested in the rack and we can discuss details of how to get it to you!

Thank you, however the rack in the OP's post is mine.

However, I am excited to look over your guns this year in Nashville. For some reason I have never stopped in your booth in the past years since Rigby started back up in London.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
