Anyone have experience with loading the 416 Remington with a 400 grain TSX? I’ve looked at the Barnes data and the best was 2520. I’ve got I4895, varget and 4320 on hand and don’t really want to take on a new powder these days if I don’t have to. Using federal brass and 215’s.

Varget works for me. A click or 2 back of Barnes max.

I have very good results from 2206. Obviously not available but 2206H is marginally slower.
Mind you that was with 340gr woodleighs.

Varget works well. It is a temperature insensitive powder so that is, IMO, a big bonus. There is nothing magic or difficult about working up a load for the 416 Remington. Use a chronograph and published data. "Shoot" for a velocity on the conservative side that is accurate, with low velocity SDs. I try for around 2300-2350 fps for all my 370-400 gr, 416 Remington loads.

I would be shocked if you can't get Varget to work out for what you need.

@Mac Baren, I live central to city of Cincinnati. I have work travel early this week but could hopefully meet later this week (with no schedule changes). What area of town are you working/staying in?
Kind regards
Ron
