The Center for Biological Diversity and the Natural Resources Defense Council are petitioning the US Fish and Wildlife Service to ban the import of all wildlife and most birds as well as hides and horns. They justify it due to "COVID".

Cyrus Baird, former government relations manager for Safari Club International, recently warned in The Hunting Wire that that all hunters should be concerned and active in opposition to any proposed bans.

“Typically, you will see anti-hunting advocates and uninformed lawmakers focus on a handful of African species in their attacks—the ‘Big Five’—which consists of elephant, Cape buffalo, African lion, white and black rhinoceros, and African leopard,” Baird says. “Proponents of bans target these species because they generally exist in lower numbers (with the exception of buffalo) and are at higher risk from poaching.”

The new petition significantly broadens that effort. The Sportsmen’s Alliance points out that, unlike state or federal legislation subject to debate and vote, the petition asks the Secretary of the Interior and the head of the USFWS to use their authority under the Lacey Act, Endangered Species Act, and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora treaty to unilaterally ban the import of all wild mammals and birds (with a narrow exception for parrots), as well as animal parts. Such bans could create a comprehensive, burdensome, chain of custody for any animal or part imported for research, zoos, or aquariums (fish are included in the proposed chain of custody requirements).

The bottom line is that your trophy or trophies from your hunt in Africa could not be imported if this petition is adopted.

This is why we need everyone to be members of SCI. They are the only ones with a full time legal team in DC fighting this stuff daily.
This is nuts but it’s what we are up against. Are the deer hunters listening? They are coming after you not just the Africa hunters!

Ducks Unlimited is also gathering signatures against this stupidity. What these groups are trying to do is shut down ANY interstate or international transport of game. If successful, I guarantee they will jump to their next push-the ban of hunting anything, anywhere. Make no mistake, that is their ultimate goal.

Mindless Green Numbnuts who have nothing better to do than actually destroy what they suppose to look after just to raise a buck to pay all the staff and spokepersons.

I wish all these greens organisations would be auditted and the real numbers in $$$$ going to Nature will be shown and I am sure that Trophy hunters will still surpass that number. Although they outnumber us 100 to 1 might be much more just thinking out loud.

I know of 1 example for certain, and I would guess there are a great many others, but yes, we do out-give the antis, and it isn't even close really. My guess is they'd need to outnumber us at least 500:1, and maybe as much as 1000:1.

As @Philip Glass and @Woodcarver stated, these groups are not just trying to stop international import/export. They are trying to ban INTERSTATE transportation of any wild mammals, waterfowl, other birds, and THEIR PARTS. Which means no antlers, hide, or MEAT from that elk hunt. No ducks from Arkansas. No pheasants from South Dakota.

Not only would this ruin hunting opportunities across the US and the world, but would decimate wildlife. As well as hunting tourism.

Get involved NOW! Contact your Representatives and Senators, join organizations.

Guess I am an outlaw because this wouldn’t stop me from bringing my game back with me from Arkansas or where ever.

We need to be more proactive, and write to our elected officials stating how stupid this would be if passed. :E Red Hot::E Red Hot: What a bunch of :A Shit::A Shit:

Agreed. The old adage, “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in groups” certainly applies here.

I know of so many who simply don’t believe these bans could ever happen and so don’t get involved or even pay any attention to it…and won’t until it’s too late.
If a ban ever does get pushed through, I think they’ll have finally kicked the proverbial hornets nest and wake up the quiet ones…but i fear it will be too late for any reversal. Scary.

My 2 cents

These stupid asses don't realize that by doing that they are hurting wildlife conservation. Most of the money for conservation comes from the Pitman-Robertson Act excise tax on sporting goods and funds from all the other conservation organizations. If this idiocy passes wildlife will be severely impacted without regulated hunting. Oh, but they can't let facts and science interfere with their demented emotional irrationale.

The mistake here is assuming they even care about the results.

They do not approach this with anything remotely resembling reason. It is all about emotion, about how they feel about it - there is a term for this: primacy of consciousness The results do not enter into their calculus at all.

Can' t they be honest and spell it correctly " Neocolonialismn" oh no that they cant.
And even if they did people would still vote for them and give their freedom on a plater of gold like its nothing.

I'm waiting for Sally struthers to ask us to donate money lol

Excellent recall!!! All sung by Archie of course! With that other background noise.

Same shit we been dealing with in the UK. I dont think the antis will ever see the conservation efforts we all take part in is more than they will ever do in a lifetime
