I just returned home to Las Vegas, Nevada, the entertainment capital of the world from what should be the entertainment capital of the world. – South Africa!
I spent 8 1/2 days hunting about an hour and a half away from the Kimberley airport. I experienced more than comfortable accommodations, wonderful food and a Professional Hunter who was not only professional, but highly skilled in finding, tracking, stalking and putting me in the perfect position for a great opportunities to harvest some of the best animals I’ve ever seen in Africa.
We were most interested, as always, in mature bulls with great horns and animals that were past their prime.
I started with an Impala, which was the finest trophy my PH had seen on the massive 80,000 acre dedicated hunting site.
I ended up taking a huge Cape Buffalo, a massive - elusive Waterbok and 8 other animals. I kept running tab of all the different mammals that we saw and I counted 31 different species (I didn’t count the different variations of species- just wildebeest - not golden and blue wildebeest- just one specie.
My last harvest was an Ostrich who was fast, smart and evasive and it took me a few long distance shots to take him down and was a great hunt.
The hunting destination was beautiful and had so many different types of terrain and vegetation to make every day and every hunt a new experience. We hiked mountains, walked valleys, stalked next to streams and we had beautiful flat lands to observe the wandering wildebeests and herds of springbok and impalas. We counted over 80 wildebeest in one group that sprinted right in front of us. Their speed, power and stride were all impossible to explain without seeing it with my own eyes.
The accommodations were first class, meals were top notch and the main courses almost always served what I had hunted.
Of course we had the maid and laundry services and hot showers which are always appreciated.
My PH and two trackers were the best. We had no wounded animals, we had great success with stalking and also our lessons learned about who’s really the boss- Mother Nature!
If you are looking for a first class operation, great hunting, nice accommodations and easy to get to pls give the people @JKO HUNTING SAFARIS a call and set up a memory for a life time.
Riaan Scholtz was my PH and it was an honor to be with him and my trackers: Bright and Albert!
