Doing safari to EC soon and was wondering what the more experienced ah community feels is best when it comes to overnighting in joberg, safety being of upmost concern.
Thanks I had a brain boil, too damned hot for a brain freeze. I’ve stayed at Afton and city lodge.Africa Sky is the other place similar to the Afton.

Would love to but there is another flight to reach this part of South Africa- not sure if it’s possible seems like a really long driveHave your PH pick you up at the airport and drive directly to your safari camp! ('Have done this on every safari within or close to RSA, including S. Zim.) Please tell Eric Clapton I said Hi!
I'm sensing more and more PHs that do not wish to drive to pick clients up at the airport (which, of course is a shame.) IF I got one to drive me to S. Zimbabwe, (and for that matter one that would pick us up in Harare and drive us to SE Zimbabwe) there are drivers out there for you! Many PHs subcontract a driver. I happen to like seeing a country rather than flying over it and unnecessarily wasting time in Airports (which can be 5 hrs total on both ends!) I see it's 9 hrs one-way to the E. Cape from JHB (while it's "only" 6 hrs to the S. SA border with Zim.) As my flight arrived very late, we opted to stay at a really nice safari camp of the PHs friend overnight, drove across the border (after hunting PG in SA for the a.m.) and hunted Zim the next afternoon! At least I (and my guns/gear) were far away from the Airport!!! Good luck. And let me guess, there's no connecting flight (such that you are otherwise forced to stay at one of the nearby places?)Would love to but there is another flight to reach this part of South Africa- not sure if it’s possible seems like a really long drive
