I am looking to chat with anyone who has shipped via ocean freight means to Houston from Africa within the last year or two. I would have to drive to pick up from Louisiana. I have never shipped anything ocean freight.

My crates leave next week, will let you know how mine goes. If yours doesn't show up first.
If you wouldn’t mind, let me know a roughy cost on the ocean freight shipping and fees, as well as the crate size.

I've done it but won't do it any more. Even with my large safari groups shipping finished taxidermy from Africa it is not cheaper. The port fees really eat you up and can escalate wildly. If you do ship ocean freight please let us know how it goes.

I did it once. It was during COVID and was really the only option. It worked out fine but I don’t know that it was really any cheaper.

DID IT ONCE FROM S.A. TO HOUSTON. USED COPPERSMITH FOR CLEARING AND THEN IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF SHOWING UP AT THE WAREHOUSE AND HAVING THEM LOAD ME.

This is my quote from this week. Shipper and importer with shipping to Idaho.

@SETH RINGER was it a wash with port fees added on versus air?
THIS WAS DONE IN 2020, I THINK. AIR WAS NOT AN OPTION. BASE SHIPMENT WAS $1,700 AND THEN +/- $500 USDA INSPECTION FEES, PORT FEES WERE NOT BAD AND I CANNOT REMEMBER WHAT COPPERSMITH CHARGED BUT IT ALL SEEM REASONABLE TO AIR SHIPMENTS WE HAVE DONE. TOOK ABOUT 30 DAYS THEN.
