This is a copy of a report for my local forums here in South Africa.Nhenda Safaris is now run by Hardus Van Zyl.This chap is highly capable and client orientated. He will make any trip a sweet memory and I recommend him and his outfit to anyone wanting to hunt or fish in the wildest africa.
The previous chap Bernhard is no longer present.Take note that this is the first time I met Hardus, hence not just punting a friend.

So my trip is over and I'm back at work. The weeks tiger fishing was like something out of a book!
We boarded the plane to TETE(Mozambique) on friday, the flight being 2h20min long.
The chaps from NHENDA SAFARIS met us at the airport,on time as arranged.Great people from the Freestate infact.
The 4 hour road trip was tackled with a landrover and ford(I know!)but luckily without any hassles. On arrival at the lake two great condition buttcats were waiting for us,these ferried us to our camp. The boat trip was about an hour long, luckily the lake was as smooth as a glass table. This was however the last time we saw it like that! The camp is basic,as it should be but very clean and comfortable..the arrangements and order in the camp being five star.A generator runs everything but was so far from the camp you cannot hear it at all. There is a neat bar area, dining room, pool, spacious enough chalets with bathrooms and stunning views. The food was excellent! The one cook boys name was Normaal but I tell you his skills are way above normalEach meal was followed by a pudding. He and another chap bake buns that are probably the best in all of Africa.
Included in the package was all the food, beer, soft drinks and accomodation, just the hardtack was extra but we brought our own with as instructed.
Now the important issues and part ... the fishing. We are a group of eight guys who regularly fish together .The program works like this:At 06h00 we are on the water untill about 11h00.Then back to camp for a delicious brunch and even an hour or two's Siesta time.Half three then it's back onto the boats untill sundown.
The first two days the wind kept us off the deep water so we fished the shallows. The waves are as bad as a rough sea at times.Luckily the last few days cleared up somewhat and so the fishing also improoved.
We caught many tigers between us ranging from 1-2kg.There were also alot of 2-3kg.I would say about around 15-20 in the 3-4,5 kg range and then a nice old specimen of 8.2 kg.
That lake is massive and the bush is very wild.I am posting a few pics but have plenty more.
I want to thank Hardus Van Zyl and his capable team for making this a trip to remember, you guys treated us like kings. Thanks buddy.

The landy and ford got us there!
