Hunted
South Africa
Hi All

I'm from Gauteng South Africa, I took my son on our first hunt last year where he shot an Impala and I shot a warthog, we both thoroughly enjoyed the trip and have planned a trip for this year in August. At the moment we are looking at getting a rifle, we are looking at a 30 06 as this seems to be a versatile rifle. I am hoping to get as much info as possible from you experienced hunters.

Welcome to AH and congrats on you and your sons first hunt.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome to AH and that 3006 you are looking for should work well for what you are likely going to hunt in plains game. Lots of bullets available for it. Look forward to your hunt pictures.

Welcome Gadget!

Welcome to AH Gadget!!! the 30-06 is a fine gun thats what my wife is using in Quebec next week for her Black Bear hunt.

Welcome Gadget! The '06 is about perfect for most plains game just like it is in the U.S. up to elk and moose. Shot one today!

Welcome Gadget! Please share photos if you have any.

Welcome Gadget! As others have stated, it's hard to beat an '06.
