Good evening, folks!

I’ve stumbled upon this forum, which I’ve recently been visiting quite a bit, after deciding that I wish to pursue hunting, particularly of animals that fall into the “dangerous” category.

I’ve had a bit of experience with hunting here in Texas, from waterfowl to boar, but I’d like to really take it seriously now. I will be going on an out of state Black bear hunt within the next couple of years, and hopefully a Cape Buffalo hunt a few years after that.

Anyway, I look forward to all of y’all’s sage advice that I’m sure I will be needing.
As the saying goes, “happy hunting”.

Giday and welcome to the A H forums DBG

Hello DriveByGuy,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Cheers,
Velo Dog.

Welcome DriveByGuy. You will enjoy a buffalo hunt, it is worth a single focus experience. Prepare, read up all the facts, take in a few stories, buy the gear. Come, feel out an area, select a candidate, the stalk, the shot, the followup (hopefully not!) All 100 octane stuff.

DriveByGuy, welcome to the AH forum! As you probably already know, tons of info here! Enjoy and best of luck in your DG adventures!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
