Giday rdog and welcome to the A H forums. Do share any pics you have of your rifle as is and as it progresses through the build. Maybe start a thread in th gunsmithng section as many will be interested in following along with the build and hopefully the blooding

Welcome to AH rdog!

Welcome aboard rdog. Sounds like you've got the makings for a good PG rifle. Are you planning to hunt Africa sometime in the future? Who is doing the stock-work, or do you expect it to be a "drop in?" Do you reload? What do you hunt in Australia?

Hello rdog,

Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

The 8x57S is one of the most efficient and well suited to Africa cartridges, for all but truly heavy game.
Your choice of the Model 98, FN Mauser Commercial action, is also one of the most well suited to a sturdy and reliable hunting rifle.
My 9.3x62 is built on a 1950’s Commercial FN Mauser as well.....
But I am preaching to the choir here.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
