I didn’t make it to DSC and was wondering did anyone stop by Leupold booth and look at the new Patrol VX6 1-6 FireDot Duplex Non CDS that is coming out this year? Specs on it looks good. Just wondering if anyone saw it
I have found one minor problem with the Leopold VX5 and VX6 line with the CDS turrets. If one were to have to resight in the rifle ionce arriving to your destination, you have to make sure you carry the tiny Allen wrench with you if not it'd be impossible to readjust your elevation adjustment!
I'd be interested in your opinion. Looking for the 'right' scope for a DG rifle.
What happens if you "misplace" the "tiny" Allen wrench? FUBAR I guess?I have found one minor problem with the Leopold VX5 and VX6 line with the CDS turrets. Good luck on your surgery Mark and Gods speed with the recovery! Will do a report when I shoot it in. Will be a couple weeks tho. Have surgery on Monday and be out of commission for about 10-14 days.
I have the VX5 1-5 CDS on it now. But wanted a non CDS scope with FireDot.
Looks like this will work.
You can still click the turret to position without the extremely common hex key. I can’t imagine that ruining a hunt. Can you? What happens if you "misplace" the "tiny" Allen wrench? FUBAR I guess?
I don't think you can do that with the zero stop if you want to lower your bullet impact! You can still click the turret to position without the extremely common hex key. I can’t imagine that ruining a hunt. Can you?
Maybe not, but "if not (having the key) it would be IMPOSSIBLE to readjust your elevation adjustment"? Poor design? You can still click the turret to position without the extremely common hex key. I can’t imagine that ruining a hunt. Can you?
True, not with the newer zero stop models.I don't think you can do that with the zero stop if you want to lower your bullet impact!
Honestly the first time I removed a CDS turret I wondered the same thing.… where will I be when the screws fall out? It has never happened however. I have used three extensively over the years and have come to love them. They are relatively low and don’t snag on branches or gear like other brands taller turrets. All aluminum so nothing to crack or break. I have never needed to adjust one before a hunt. Get it locked in and leave it alone.Maybe not, but "if not (having the key) it would be IMPOSSIBLE to readjust your elevation adjustment"? Poor design?
I believe in Murphy's law whatever can go wrong will go wrong and it's always been luck it will go wrong at worst possible moment!True, not with the newer zero stop models.

…. I guess I may have to adjust if I remove my suppressor or travel somewhere where I can’t use it. I would definitely do that prior to traveling however. Can‘t envision needing the tool directly before I hunt.
Well, either/or, I've never owned a scope with a CDS turret, but after reading a lot about others who have them, I'm inclined to eventually purchase a scope with that feature for my .338WM. Something in a 2x10/12 range for a LITTLE more distance shooting. Of course, this would be for non DG.True, not with the newer zero stop models.
