Just got a brand new A400 xplor 20 g. The modified choke Installed from the factory was VERY tight to unscrew till the last threads disengaged. Tried one of the other chokes and threads were also very tight going in . I’m accustomed to being able to hand spin the chokes in and tighten the last turn with wrench.
Should I be concerned the barrel threads are not tapped correctly?
Started an inquiry with Beretta customer service.

I had three of the five factory chokes on my Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus out of round…egg shaped. Not to mention just about every factory choke did not measure close to what they said they were.

I switched to Carlson’s and Müller chokes for all of my shotguns and have not been disappointed. The only other brand I trust is Briley.

I would recommend measuring the outside of your barrel with calipers to see if it was damaged, possibly in shipping or maybe even the factory. It’s not likely, but a possible cause.

If the barrel is true, you can chase the barrel threads with a tap. When I bought my Benelli SBE2, this was provided as part of the kit but it’s very rare to see it included anymore.

Make sure you use some kind of lubricant on the threads whenever you install a choke and clean the threads on both the barrel & choke. I’d recommend a dielectric grease for this application.

Saw a good looking knife you posted a pic of with the watermelon. Can I ask the make? Looks like you hunted with Guav Johnson? We overlapped in the Save once. Would like to hunt with him one day..
