Need some quick advice on a Sako 500 jefferey

Hey guys, I have pinned down a Sako Brown Bear in 500 Jeffrey. I wanted a little advice from some of you guys that know a little more about these rifles. I obviously have the 416 version of it and I really like it. Is there any known issues with this rifle in the 500 Jeff and is $2800 +/- a reasonable price on this rifle?

Is that new? $2700 at Euro Optic, new, not including base and rings.

Yeah it's new. They don't have them in stock at euro optics anymore. Do they even still produce that rifle or was it just a run of those that they did?

They dont make them any more. If you can find one new they are upward of 6k. Only problem is you are stuck with CIP CARTRIDGE OVER ALL LENGTH. Not easy to load monomental bullets and get full velocity..i have one. So i went and bought an AHR as well. I USE SWIFT AFRAME SOFT POINTS IN SAKO. Your price is good. The CZ AHR you have more room for hand loading.

Can you load the CEB 525's in it or the barnes, even If you have to sacrifice a little velocity?

I'm about to pull the trigger on this rig. Pair it up with my 416 brown bear and that should make a pretty sweet Africa battery.

When you say they don’t make them anymore, do you mean they have temporary shifted production elsewhere due to Covid supply chain issues or do you mean they won’t be making them again? They still appear on sakos website.

I called the Beretta Gallery in Highland Park, Texas this last weekend inquiring about the availability of a Sako in .500 Jeffery. The salesperson told me that they are discontinuing the 85 and switching production to 90/100 models. There are no new Sako 85’s in .500 Jeffery available through Beretta and the remaining 85’s in other calibers they have are being closed out.

You got to try it out. I did not bother yet. The action is not as large as cz.

They have not had 500j for almost 3 years. May have some left in Europe.Then the price go way up.

More over 500j brass is next to impossible to get at this time. I had some and listed. They went real fast. Still getting enquiries .
