A German law firm specializing in EU law just found that national hunting trophy import bans in individual EU countries violate EU laws on international trade. The populistic bans are, therefore, probably not valid and should be challenged by European hunters.

This may not affect the planned UK trophy import ban, but it makes a massive difference for traveling hunters in EU countries.

There are already (illegal) bans in place in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Finland, while countries like Germany, Italy, and Poland are working on similar populistic laws.

This is great news for practical nature conservation and deserves to be shared widely.... so please do :-)

Great news indeed. But I’m unsure if the EU bureaucracy will have a more lenient position on the matter...

Two lawyers opinions. Worthless, until a case is tried and appealed.

Just like here in the States, they will enforce policy and/or laws until they are forced by a lawsuit to change.

With any luck, this will give organizations like CIC a legal basis to challenge these bans in court.

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
